Training - Saturday 11th June, 2016

There's an open training session at Goschs Paddock this Saturday morning.

The Demon Army with Membership Volunteers will be firing up the BBQ. The MFC merchandise tent will be at the ground. Warm up with Mo's coffee cart and wait to see your favourite player for photos and autograph opportunities.

The boys are usually very relaxed at training sessions & have plenty of time for all. It won't be the full squad on Saturday because the Casey Scorps are playing on Saturday afternoon.

If it works for you, come along.

Will Hogan be announcing his contract extension at the event?

Of course not Ethan.

He will announce it in Monte Carlo with a picture of Fremantle behind him.

Just a reminder to you all to come and enjoy the cold weather with the boys at their training session before Queens Birthday. Warm up with a sausage and hot coffee.

There will be plenty of selfie time for the kids to have with their favourite players. Training should start at 9.30am.

Also a reminder that Yarra Park will be closed for all games over the long weekend.

Is anyone at the open training session? Has Hoges announced his 3-5 year extension?

Saty, does Hulett or Dawes have bigger guns?

If they went this morning they would have been staring at dew dripping off the grass ends.

A great opp for as many as possible to get there tomorrow and get around the boys. Get a bit of that old  'club feel' going which would be pretty rare nowadays.

Hoping to get there!

Thanks gents

I'll be driving down the Hume for the QB clash on Saturday morning, and watching what I can of the Casey match on TV in the arvo.  I'll welcome any insightful training reports to further whet my appetite for Monday's game.  Thanks in advance for anyone who is able to give us interstate / country members some summary information.  Your work is always greatly appreciated!

I'd prefer he didn't cross his fingers - might cause more damage to the [censored] knuckle!

Jack V started with light training early but has since joined the main group for end to end at the moment. I would say a very good 70/30 chance he's good to go but they probably will do other tests/follow up after so dont shoot me if he doesnt make it

Rusty is Grimes Harmes and Michie training?

Would also live to know why Weideman isn't playing today.

cheers

Roos said last night that Jack has been cleared to play by the medicos; its just a matter of having a look at his 'functionality' today ie handballs, ball pick up.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
