gwsampo, are you the riddler?

I get the feeling that was all this talk between Jesse's manager and the club & media, Jesse is nothing more then the:

"The eight of us march forward, not back.  To protect our king from foes attack'.

in this ongoing shemozzle.

Thanks, as I suspected.

It wasn't Hogan's management being quoted at all.  And I wouldn't read much into McLure's comments, which may just mean we're not close to a decision.

Never, I repeat never, trust a poster's version of what they heard on the radio or tv.

I heard it differently.

Healy said he called Hogan's management for a comment on the recent scuttle butt. Healy relayed to the listeners that Hogan's management denied any contract extension had taken place and basically inferred that an extension is miles away.

Are we but pawns? I think so.

pretty funny stuff...

Rumours and such develop on DL

someone  adds two and two somewhere and comes up with 5 and posts it as near to as truth somewhere else.  Media who trawl ( and troll ) through DL pick up a sniff of nothing and feel compelled to say something as though knowledgeable .  DL hear the mumblings of the media and recycle.same.

Id rather these rumours that he has signed , more than rumours that he is going.

If Jesse Hogan asked, "What do we stand for as a footy club", what answer would he get back?

Perhaps if any of us knew the answer to that question, and it was something that was strong and positive, then re-signing with us would be a lot easier for him to do so.

Quite frankly, I still despair of our footy club. After 3 years under Paul Roos, we lost our last game by more than 100 points, and no-one has come up with a fair dinkum reason as to why that happened. We talk about our future prospects, and offer that as a reason why Jesse should re-sign with our club, but what happened in the most recent  game that we played?

Im not convinced that is true actually. It is very rare a player leaving a club is not preemted by rumours, partic high profile players.

Rumors on sen now on trading places - Hogan has signed for 4 years . Their looking for confirmation .

If they're looking for confirmation, they need to go to the source, which is Dr. Turf's daughter.

Be honest, there wouldn't be one reason you'd accept.  For you there is no excuse, so why ask for a "reason" when there's not one you'd tolerate ?

GWS lost to lowly Melbourne in round 23 last year and should've made the GF this year.  That capitulation at Etihad had no bearing on their 2016.

The Bulldogs lost to lowly Freo, who had 3 wins coming into the match, in round 23 this year and are about to play in the GF.

Point being ?  Don't get so fixated on one match, especially when that match meant nothing and the team was on average younger and more inexperienced than any other for the bulk of the year.  It's called "young weary bodies with nothing on the end of it getting a belting".  But that excuse won't cut it for you so why ask ?

I know the 2 examples I just gave weren't by 100 points, which will be your sticking point, but the magnitude of the loss means nothing in the scheme of things.  The next worse loss was by 55 points against Sydney, so we had one 10 + goal hiding for the year and beat Hawthorn in the process.  A side that beat us by 105 the year before.

That 105 loss now means nothing.  And nor does round 23 against Geelong.

and to add to that, i don't believe Jesse is going to be very worried about 1 performance when it's weighed against our overall improvement.

Bumped into a Melbourne supporter mate yesterday, who went to the BnF night, and saw a girl there that he knew, spending a lot of the night with Jesse.

Later when my mate spoke to her, she claimed "if there is one thing i'd say about Jesse, is that I think he'll go back to Perth".

Obviously take with a grain of salt.. but thought i'd share anyway.

You are asking for a lot of flak saying these kind of heresies here. Amazing is it. The Bulldogs have a tremendous upheaval, coach sacked, senior players jumping ship in 2014, their list condemned as shyte, tipped for the 2015 wooden spoon and injury upon injury. Now look at them. While us going through a meticulous rebuild with some supposedly great draft picks and showing some modest improvement  but none of the spirit and fight of the dogs. If he goes I think we will be in a better place. Pandering to Prima Donna's  with crap body language who play hard to get can only lead to grief.

Guys, spoke to my contact yesterday.

Bottom line is the club has presented Jesses management with a number of contracts. Freo and WCE have both l approached Melbourne about a trade. We have told them to bugger off in no uncertain terms.  He did however say that this might be a playing games tactic.

Jesses decision will not be based around anything but the go home factor.

Club is HOPING and expects to hear something next week.

After speaking to him i came away with the feeling that Jesse will be playing for us next year with either a new contract or on the existing one.

Anyway I'm ready to be shot down...... LOL.

Also said we are still in dialogue with Barlow and club is confident of landing him as a nice up-grade in Matt Jones.

Didnt know anything about us being interested in Motlop.

Perhaps you'd like to list all the AFL clubs and answer your own question, what do they stand for, what do Adelaide stand for? What about Freo or Brisbane, maybe GWS or Gold Coast. What does any football club stand for, maybe to win a flag or to be successful each year.

Maybe we could start up a focus group and see what we can come up with.

So in the last few days, both Dr Turf & Steven Stretch have publicly expressed that they have a feeling/expect him to sign a long term deal.

This on-top of both Roos & Goodwin recently saying they expect him to stay.

Only good signs one can assume?

Where/When did Steven Stretch say this?

North Melbourne stand on principle and do not have pokies venues. It costs them, but they do it.

But yeah other than that, I can't think of any clubs taking a proper moral stance on anything.

If he was a betting man, reckons he'll sign a long term deal.

Thanks FD, I appreciate you passing on the details of the conversation with your 'contact', knowing that your sharing it 'for what it's worth' with your fellow supporters.

A Players managers' wife is an aquantance of mine. On Tuesday morning she said 'hubby' had not heard much about Jesse?

Interesting, so how does that play out if the club told WCE and FRE where to go and Jesse tells them next week he wants to go home?

i assume they're decent trade offers from both sides?

Maybe he rejected he clingy attitude and she took that as him not committing to her because he wants to go back to Perth.
