Frost and Dunn omitted. Lumumba and Salem out with concussion

Interesting omissions. Dunn had a shocker and Frost has had his chances.

Garland played well last week from all reports. I hope they shut down Lynch.

Speed with Stretch, grunt with Oliver and Mitchie - not sure why he gets a go ahead of ANB. Any thoughts there?

It's certainly interesting re: ANB.  Clearly we have gone for a little outside run in terms of bringing Stretch in, while Oliver is ahead of ANB.  Michie is a replacement for Salem, and Garland is in for Dunn.

I know some will question why ANB wasn't selected but it doesn't matter.

I'm glad Dunn was dropped, he has been beyond useless since being brought into the side. He played one good half vs Richmond but that was helped by their pathetic forward entries.

Frost - about time. Learn to play AFL first with Casey, then you might be more impactful.

I'm surprised to see H dropped, even if it wasn't his best game last week. Keeping Hunt in ahead of him is telling.

He wasn't dropped, he has concussion.

Stunned at the Dunn hate. Seen him play a lot more good footy this year than bad, and so often held up certain goals.

Can someone please explain how we'll match up in defence on their talls?

McDonald will obviously play on Lynch. But please tell me Garland isn't going play on Peter Wright who is 12cm taller than him. And what happens if Day starts forward as well?

Perhaps Pedo needs to play as a key defender and rely on Hogan and Watts to be our only key forwards.

i worry about our defence now that Dunn isn't good enough anymore.

I'm with you. His kicking is an asset and our back line looks very small without him. Not comfortable with Garland on either Wright or Lynch.

I missed that, my bad. 3 players out with concussion, surely that's some sort of record.

To those complaining re. ANB - he isn't in due to Oliver back in ahead of him.

Oliver had 29 touches, 16 tackles playing inside mid last week.

Its going to be very interesting  - and by interesting I mean possibly catastrophic.

From the outside looking in, the non-selection of ANB is getting a bit ridiculous.

And what is up with all these bloody concussions, that is 3 players unavailable for that reason this week. With OMac missing last week or the week before also from concussion, and Trengove's head knock also. It's quite a list.

I don't think that happens.  With Thompson and May not playing they need some height down back, and Day has been playing down there.  I reckon he goes to Hogan.

Peter Wright does worry me slightly, but they like playing guys like Garland on players who are much taller than him.  Happens every week.  Very curious to see how the defence responds to last week.

Dunn did have a shocker last week. So much so he was moved to the fwd line. Gave 2 x 50m penalties away in a row...

I wouldn't call it hate, just disappointment. He's a senior player but hasn't looked like one this year in my eyes.

I think Dunn has been pretty good, certainly better than Garland, but he had a couple of massive brain snaps last week as we were losing control early.

Wright will have a breakout game for sure.....

When our defence was being torn apart, the answer from the box was to get Dunn out of there and throw Pedersen back. It's hard to know the full picture when you're not in the box, but being thrown out of defence and then the side tells me plenty.

Defender Oscar McDonald, utility Alex Neal-Bullen and former co-captain Jack Grimes have been named emergencies.

Maybe some late changes

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
