Well done Christian. And love that the young fella backed the underdogs when we were close to our worst despite having a Hawks father and living in Tassie.

Best story. Thank you DeeZee for passing it on

What a brilliant way for Petracca to use his new found AFL fame. Can go one way or the other. Bet he got almost as much out of it as the boy he helped. More power to him.

Well done Sir

Go you good bloke ^_^

I wonder if injuries can make a player better.

Sounds funny I know but perhaps they can make a player more determined and hungry.

Petracca has had a rough trot as had Trengrove and I hope he has an awesome debut.

I played juniors with Leigh and it's definitely Mon-TAG-na.

Doesn't matter what it 'should be', as a few people have said.

Gee , that will confuse the Coniglio and Silvagni families .

16 possessions

6 inside 50's - 3rd most for Melbourne

3 goal assists -  1st for Melbourne

5 tackles - 3rd most for Melbourne

Underrated debut. I guess when theres a lot of hype a first gamer doesn't get credit unless they have a day out.

His debut was so hyped anything short of dominance seemed lacklustre. I'm guilty of falling for the hype but still recognise it was a great first game for a debutante

Just saying I don't think Petracca was as good as people thought he was on his first game

For months I have been saying he is a junior footballer who had not yet played one game at AFL level.

So he has three good games at Casey, two of which were against very poor VFL sides and all of a sudden he is brownlow material and is in the Senior side.

From my part of the ground he did two nice things and the rest of the time he look like a rabbit caught in the spot light.

But hell it is his first game. He deserves a bit longer  before I declare him the next Tompas.

The Carl Dietrich amazing first game will never happen again. I wasn't there but apparently a stunner...

Petracca did as well as you'd expect and he will be a star.

I would have been scared to high heaven about my knee.... He did well to go in as hard as he did

Yeh mate and Gysberts' first three games were each over the 25 disposal mark and how's that fella going?

Not that I'm comparing Oliver to Gysberts.

But disposals.

Fark me, who cares at this stage of their careers.

As long as they compete and show glimpses then all will be well.

Jeez some absolute flags posting about him. In a team comprehensively beaten around the ground, he played a role and performed as well as expected. I look forward to the next 4 to 5 games, preferably with a better midfield effort from the rest of our players.

Exactly. He was caught by surprise a few times, got pinged twice that I saw. On the other hand, he got involved and caused a bit of damage. I thought he had a pretty quiet game and was surprised by the stats - 3 goal assists is particularly interesting and hopefully a sign of what is to come once he has the rhythm.

Not a bad debut, all things considered - did see some very deft skills displayed. The speed of the game must be very hard to adapt to and can surprise even the classiest of newcomers; Cripps averaged just 9 disposals per game in the 3 matches he played in 2014.

One debuted in team that played pretty well whilst the other played in a team thats performance was inept and one spent the majority of time onball whilst the other spend the majority of time in the forward half and at the first game I ate one pie whilst on Saturday I had a really bad chicken burger so I am at loss to to try and make sense of the comparison ..just sayin...

Spot on. Its always easier for a get ball and get rid of it quick type player (oliver) to have an early impact however players who get it and try to run and carry as tracc tried a couple of times, have to learn a little more how to deal with the pace. I look forward to see what he can show after 3/4 weeks at the level no staring, just want to see some flashes of what he may become.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best.
