Why? Does it like being soaked in (shudder) Budweiser?

It tastes like soap so must be good for soaking.

Sorry ET it was a small joke about me distracting the thread. I know who JT is.

I'd say that the mercenary attitudes belonged to the ones who got greedy.   the clubs just said very well.  off ya go then.

but a strong club will always look after the players who give all to their club, until they are past by other players & said injured player can no longer earn his jumper.

Adam Ramanauskas at Essendon comes to my mind as an example.  the soul of a footy club is about its values & its people collectively give it its strength.  thru thick & thin.

you would not want one better example of who to back to the hilt than Trenners.

come on mate you have no way in hell of knowing if GWS had come sniffing around Trengove instead of Scully that he wouldn't have taken the cash also. Anybody would have.

I would have, without hesitation.

your right I don't know C&B, but to this day I have faith in Trenners to do the right thing according to the old values.   it's  just a hairy hunch,  but its a strong feeling I have from his courage & dedication.

If he had got through his fitness test your theory would be down the S Bend DL...

Didn't JT come out very early in that season saying that he had re-signed with the club effectively as a statement to Scully to encourage him to re-sign too?

hmmn, what mercenaries?

how would Trenners be a mercenary if he was engineered into speaking to another club?  ruthless we need to be onfield.  & somewhat off it.

but there has to be a line we draw,  where morals & the love for club & teammates gets respected.

Another thread of looking over the shoulder, hands up anybody that has not taken a job for more money or a better chance of success, the hypocrisy displayed when players move clubs these days amazes me   it is 2016 the whole game has changed   for the better  who knows

By Whom. The Members and Supporters who pay the club.

The rest get paid by the club..

the money & sense of ownership of things material is a real problem throughout the western world, over the last 60+ years,. & been getting worse.

when we get passed this concept of ownership. we will all be better off.

we really are all tenants, on this rock.

the attitudes that come with the sense of material ownership, are divisive to our better scruples.

A few steps closer:  "Trengove looked sharp in the full ground ball movement drills and received plenty of encouragement from teammates.  He ran hard to receive the footy when going forward and on a number of occasions pushed back with purpose into defence...Match practice remains the only hurdle left in the luckless midfielder's bid to return to the football field via the NAB Challenge or the season proper".

Go Jack!

Even if he gets back there are no guarantees but god i hope he makes it!

There was an amazing moment at training today where, during a full team kick-in simulation, Trengrove, cleverly intercepted  the ball and fired the ball back over the head of the defender for a goal.  The boys  all stopped, grinned at each other and gave a loud cheer. There was an electric excitement that shot across the group. Optimism felt high.

And how much more amazing would / will it be if he does that in a match!!?

Not sure If I am more excited about the debut of Petracca or the return of Trenners.  Lots of reasons to be pumped for this season.

For once people are not overly excited about a first round pick (Clayton Oliver) debut.

This was always the main talk of the topic around the Bailey and Neeld years if i remember.
