I find JW threads boring full stop.

Yet you still open them, OD? :)

He's been an intriguing figure since the day he was drafted and no doubt will be til the day he retires. I doubt there will ever be another player quite like him in terms of the love/hate sentiment from supporters.

After a number of days I weakened P-man read four posts and decided it was a bad decision

You know that this can be fixed.....no more new JW topics?

Give him some respite and give all the posters/supporters some respite.

Let the coaches (experts) do their job with him.

I don't know why you open JW threads. It's clearly not good for your stress levels.

I was referring to the supporters at large, not the microcosm that is Demonland. The football public are fascinated by him. "Fixed"? It's just the way it is.

Jack Watts topics on Demonland have about two thirds of eff all impact on Watts' progress.

Dawes gets paid more than most at MFC and some of his performances are so bad its unbelievable that it gets zero airtime. Yet Watts drops a mark and its all over the media.

My stress levels are fine - and, indeed, I was talking about the DL community that is polarised whenever a 'new' thread is opened about him. Supporters from other clubs couldn't give a rats about JW.

Fix the polarising and the minutiae commentary by not opening any more new threads about him.

What's done, is done.

Or, all over D'Land...

As one poster duly noted, Melksham is on his way.....

NO,just too soft. The Dees should get a fist round pick for him next year as he is a free agent. Perhaps this is wishful thinking.

Jack should stick to fixing up all the other things he's failed at, like stopping world hunger and finding a cure for cancer. He's done neither of these things since he was drafted and, frankly, I'm angry about it.

And he's done SFA to solve the Syria situation

if he deserves a spot then he will get a spot, the same for every other spot in the team, hopefully no passengers or people getting picked to make up the numbers because of a lack of depth going forward. Real competition to get a game is what we all want to see.

Well that's just wrong. He's arguably the only Melbourne player they do give a [censored] about, along with Hogan. His touches get booed or cheered pending on which side of the Watts fence they sit on. He's easily Melbourne's most high profile player and that applies across the spectirum - media and supporters.

If other people want to discuss Jack Watts, they're entitled to. If their criticism is OTT, call them on it. But this incessant need to want to cut off every Watts discussion before it starts is crazy. He's always been, potentially, a valuable piece of the puzzle. That hasn't yet come to fruition.

If Watts threads bore you, don't contibute to them. If they frustrate you, don't even open them. It's really very simple, isn't it? Telling everyone to stop talking about him doesn't look to have been a successful strategy to date.

Personally, I'm interested in what posters see as his best role in 2016.

goal-kicking wing, with 4 tackles per game.

Possible this is his last season at MFC. If he doesn't improve he may well get delisted as it appears his trade value is fairly low.

If he does improve a bit and attracts interest as a free agent then MFC may not wish to match an offer from a club looking for that cream on top type player.

Regardless, its setting up for a fascinating stage of his career.

Cream on top of what? Rancid milk?

The "no interest from other clubs during the trade period" could well be his last wake up call.

2016 could be his last year in the game and if that's the case he only has himself to blame.

Only when it's an insipid effort after he's ducked his head. In his 7th year.

Christian Salem played 10 games. He had a chance to vote in 9 of them, because he was injured in the first quarter of his 7th game and didn't return to the field.

Jack Watts played 20 games.

Christian Salem finished higher in the B&F. Less than half the finished games and polled higher. In his second year.

So forget criticising fans like me, who think he's as useful as a cold pie, his own coaches reckon he's pathetic. I'm critical of the coaches for playing him in 20 games, because clearly they weren't rating his performances.

The guy won't be at the club in 12 months time.

No you're not.

You're comfortable in joining in the bleating choir of the minority on here.

I still maintain that outside the MFC supporters, JW is not at the forefront of their thoughts.

Don't think I criticised fans at all. You have every right to whinge about him.

Was comparing Watts to Dawes as they both put in shockers consistently yet Watts every mistake is magnified.

I hope he can improve and add value, I think 3rd man up will be his thing this year. Otherwise he gets flicked, easy.

Theres a spot for Jack if he wants it.

The list now has some depth for maybe first time since hes been at the club, he wont be gifted games any more.

Fair enough. I took it as an all-encompassing criticism of anyone who questions Watts and his worth to the team.

Dawes has been a bust.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
