NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS 3 & 7

Featured Replies

We can still go after Prestia next year by trading another future 1st rounder to GC (2017), we may even give up our 2nd rounder (2016) to help give them points for their Academy player's they have next year.

It just mean we won't be able to do any future picks trading of 1st rounders for the next 2 years afterwards.

If our first round pick next year is #18 then I, for one, have no complaints with Mahoney's strategy!

?

Fantastic outcome and really great trading and list management. Haven't got the A grader in but really impressed with the work that has been put in.

I like the Recruiting team (and Josh)!

I guess we have been talking about it a lot but it seems that we are fairly keen on Parish, Curnow, and Weiderman. The question remains who is pick 4-6. Francis will be one of them, word is Milera is another. That would leave us with 2 of these boys.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

thats mental! why would GWS do that deal? 43 for bugg and basically 10 and 63 for pick 7.

we wouldnt have used 63 anyway! haha

I gather by that deal we are not going to bid on GWS's academy player.

That's great, 3 and 7.

Well done Dee's.

Willing to put money on that we wont big on the GWS boys at 3 or 7. Carlton wont put a bid on them at 8. If I am going to loose the picks anyway, I might as well try and get something out of it.

[censored] sensational. Rapt

Further proof that we need to have faith in our FD. It was only a few days ago that many on here were quick to have a crack at Mahoney for not doing enough at the trade table, that others were doing all the good deals and so forth. Now they are quickly changing their tune.

And have a look how it's ended. We got the 3 players we wanted, and not only did we move higher up in the draft order but also landed another pick inside the Top 10 as well. Add to that the upgrades of Vandenberg and Harmes (assuming he gets an upgrade) and we have seriously had an excellent trade period. Plus we only had to lose a few picks, Howe and Toumpas to achieve it.

Great stuff all round from the club.

My favourite numbers.

Do we know who Gc r going to take at 6? If so then that's our answer.

I'm tipping we will nominate Sydney's academy player but not GWS's

Surely ROOSY doesn't hold grudges?

Now I'm suddenly interested in the top picks in the draft.

me too hadnt even given two hoots before..lol

Great outcome, but the proof will be in the players recruited. We've been down this road before.

Maybe Gc have indicated they like Mathieson. Leaving us parish at 3 and Weideman at 7.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
