Delisted MFC players

No real surprise there I thought Fitzy might get another run.

But they are all NGE

Surely, Terlich will be not far behind - maybe we are offering a RL spot...

I would just delist and pay out - life is brutal, this is just footy...

Wish them all the best.

Terlich and M Jones next please.

Impending Picket meltdown in 3...2...1

So - 2 retired, 4 delisted, Van Demon and Chomps certain upgrades - leaves 4 spots. I don't think White will be upgraded immediately, but Terlich may be paid out, Matt J probably won't. Five spots plus a couple of rookies. It's reputedly not a deep draft, so I think a couple of picks will be included in trade deals. An active trade period for the Dees.

If Jones and Terlich are contracted, perhaps the club prefers to see what comes in (through trade) before paying them out. Can't see us taking any more than 3 draftees, and can see Harmes & maybe White being promoted.

It's not necessarily the year for a mass cleanout, not much in the draft to replace that many.

Might be prudent to go with a few less on the primary list and extras on the rookie list this year.

all will be revealed in the fullness of time :)

that and trade week :)

Terlich might just be kept as a backup if Grimes is to go. But who knows. I like that the club were tough on him this year. Constantly pushing him to improve the defensive side of his game, not just use his rebounding attributes. Might turn around like Pederson did under similar circumstances.

I think the coaching staff see more in Matt Jones then Bail, Fitz, Riley and Mckenzie.

He has the leg speed that the club needs. Not saying that he has a place in the side. But he did 'play his role well' in a few games this season. Went unnoticed at times.

Kept for depth perhaps.

IMO there is one reason he may survive this year.

He has a contract.

Dean was also in hospital having post season op, give it a break.

Whilst inevitable, I do feel for both Fitzy who has really battled for his career and Mc Kenzie who has always struck me a a terrific clubman.

Never nice to see someone lose their job and I wish the best to all of them.

Terlich didn't play a game this year and it is time to pay him out and move on. I watched his performance in a few games with Casey and his disposal was absolutely terrible.

Are we in a position to pay players out every year?

Are we in a position to pay players out every year?

Surely we are. All it costs is a rookie pick to replace them if you're looking to do it cheaply. You have to pay the guy if he stays, so is just the extra cost of a rookie.

I don't what the specifics of the rules are but that's what I'd be doing and if that's all it costs financially we can afford it.

I'm a little surprised to see Fitzy moved on as we don't have great depth in key positions or in the ruck, and he can play in all of those. Nevertheless, after six years, he can hardly complain.

The other three had their cards marked a long time ago.

Of course they were. Reality is that even as low down the pile the likes of Terlich and Jones are, they're still there for a reason. You obviously don't want them playing games as you don't want any depth players to be because it means you have a lot of injuries, but at the very least they're competent and probably more useful in defensive roles than what Riley and Bail are in attacking roles.

Terlich back up for Grimes, Grimes back up for Salem.

Get rid of them both and play another mid who can kick the footy on the other flank.

As Robbie57 said, this was inevitable but can't help but feel a tinge of sadness as all four have been great clubmen and gave great effort. Jordie in particular is someone I'll remember as the ONLY player during 186 who was giving total effort during the game. It's a shame that his disposal and decision making (like the other three) just wasn't up to scratch. I wish them all the best. All of them overcame significant challenges to play AFL footy.

I don't think Jones will be delisted but I do think Terlich will be gone once they sign a delisted free agent- much like last year when Newton took Pickles Evans' place on the list.
