Christian Petracca in the USA!

Featured Replies

Love the mental toughness this seems to be building. It sounds like he will not only build confidence in his knee, but also in his ability to give everything at every contest, every time.

Quite fascinating reading all of this. These trainers really seem to know their stuff. Am glad the club has found such caliber of help for Tracca.

Seems he really understands it also ( CP )

Looking forward to seeing him 'tearing down the house' at training :)

Knowles I believe assisted Tex Walker in his rehabilitation, knowledge, tips etc. Top expert advice for Christian.

edit: sorry dazzler - you posted the same on pg 1.

Sam Edmund's article on Tex Walker today highlights Knowles.

Traccin in the USA: Part Four

This impressed me: "The challenging part of these exercises was that all my life, when I jump and then land, I land with a bent knee and drop really low. But all of these actions are about landing with stability around the knee and landing in a position that enables you to make a second move and play the next play.

Would be good if this training routine could be given to other players as our weakness has been slow ball movement, often causing turnovers.

Anything that reduces turnovers and improves our team's ability to 'play the next play' is a great advantage!

It's only 20 seconds, but I love the video of him in the gym on the website. Brutal tackle right at the end on that tackle bag!

I think the beauty of this, and same thing with Jesse last year is that the player is able to develop a really strong understanding of the types of movements they should be aiming for, what's going to help their footy but also their durability long term

Christian will have learned a lot about footy, his body and the life of an AFL player this year, I wouldn't be against a mandatory 12 months on the list before playing for all new draftees, as exciting as it is seeing them come straight in, the benefits we've seen with Viney, O'meara, Martin, Crouch, Hogan and now Christian are obvious.

The kid's a star.

wonder why trenners didn't go with him

errr, because he didn't do his knee. They're knee specialists.

err, knowles is a lot more than just a knee specialist. read up on him

I'm reading an article about an !8 year old man's knee rehab on a Friday night.

Something is totally wrong.

A man who we are pinning many hopes on Biff. A man who may become the next Stevie J, or Jake Stringer, or even Malcolm Turnbull......

Surely you're not considering surfing other anatomical topics on a Friday night after a long week at work?

good point.

He says final day. Does that mean he is done there, or?

Yes strange that we sent him all that way, merely for five days of specialist treatment. I hope that they either:

A) have some other elite specialist sports scientist working him on his fast-tracked recovery a second week; and/or

B) we have a good video record for Misson & Co. to implement in relation to other MFC players steering similar injuries in the future!

He models himself on Dustin Martin. I would have thought the next step is to go on an almighty bender in Vegas.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
