I really hate this guy. I hope they lose next week and he never wins a premiership!

I wouldn't take offense.

He is just a bit of a dimwit, and isn't well versed on the finer points of media.

All other players in his situation would be thinking the exact same thing, but they would probably be able to put their feeling into words, without crapping on their ex team mates.

And, he is correct isn't he? You can say what you want when you are a part of a team like Hawforn. Its them I really hate. (more likely envy)

Grow up. MFC let him down not the other way around. A series of terrible mistakes by a series of MFC Administrations let all of us down. But no one suffers more than the Full Back who watched for 7 yrs while the ball was delivered to his opponents perfectly by midfields and score assisters under no pressure. How would you feel going to work every day and knowing that doing your absolute best won't stop you from being beaten most times through no fault of your own.

Good luck to him. We got Brayshaw with overs compensation. He's going to be a more important player for MFC than Frawley was ever going to be. Sam Frost will probably be a better back than him so we move on.

The MFC let him down to begin with. He let us down last year and earlier, IMO. He just jogged around and just generally didn't give a toss. Fingers crossed for an Eagles flag.

Gee, it's slim pickings when you're hoping for an Eagles flag. Then again, I generally hate everyone that's not Melbourne.

So brave of Frawley to jump ship at the Demons and run off to ride the coat tails of the back to back premiers.

So, so brave.

I thought he played well on Pavlich in the second half - some critical spoils.

He was more than happy to take a nice pay cheque from the club for all those seasons. I don't care that he left but the way he speaks is disrespectful and idiotic.

I would rather be in Bali than ever put on a Whorethorn jumper

Chip is allowed to do what he wishes, but his 2014 season is what i remember

He was in cruise control

This is exactly what the MFC must rid themselves of, highly paid players preserving themselves so they are fit when leaving.

Frawley should have spent half of last year at Casey.

He's already inherited the Hawthorn arrogance. Cannot wait until they fall. And they will at some stage.

Agree on this bit, but don't agree on your last point. We got Brayshaw because we kept playing Frawley. Just as we'll get something decent this year for Howe, because we kept playing him.

Reckon we'll be talking about Howe in the same way next year, despite the fact that both players have probably been shown the door by the MFC.

But the club has to make a stand. How long do you keep doing it?

I don't understand all the hate towards Chip, he endured one of the worst, if not the worst patch the club has had on and off the field for the first 8 years of his career, he was 26 with finals looking like being at least a few years away and had a really nice contract from a side that looks like they'll be contending not just for this flag but probably the next few years as well.

if you take the MFC supporter bias out of it it's a pretty obvious decision and good luck to him, hopefully he can experience a good win next weekend.

And why do you think we sucked for the whole time he was here? Because he’s not a leader; he’s just someone who hopped on a bandwagon that’s already steaming to its finish line.

It’s frustrating to see someone who should be in his prime and leading us out of our mess simply choose to waltz over and pick up a premiership medal somewhere else without doing the hard work to get there.

Oh please, we sucked because the club tanked and created a losing culture, recruited horrifically and couldn't develop the few picks we did get right, made horrible choices on and off the field won 30 odd games in 8 years, looked set for another full rebuild before becoming a finals team under Roos with no guarentees that'd come off.

loyalty in footy is far less common it's about what we can offer the players,

Hey Chip, wanna be part of another rebuild?

Hey Chip wanna come play regular finals footy?

if we fail to meet expectations on our end good players will leave, if we don't keep improving I reckon we'll be having the same conversation about Jesse Hogan or Christian Petracca.

Frawley was on cruise control after the 2011 season - overall, his career at Melbourne was a fail considering his talent.

In my eyes he'll remain our greatest disappointment in recent times ... he wasted his obvious talent with us but I'm happy to see the end of him in all honesty - he was of little value to us anyway. Many here were (or are) more frustrated with others but those others didn't (or don't) have Frawley's ability. However, the compensation we got for him is already working in our favour.

Frawley finished 8th, 7th & 9th in our B&F in his last 3 years with us (2012. 2013 & 2014) ... for a person of his ability, those outcomes were unacceptable. In those same 3 years Nathan Jones went 1st, 1st and 1st. Terlich and Matt Jones finished 3rd & 4th respectively in the 2013 B&F. He might get a flag with the Hawks but he gave us SFA, all things considered.

Footnote: The B&F is a great guide - Flower only got 1 B&F award but was 2nd four times and 3rd twice (plus, he also got a 4th and a 5th placing)

So evidently you don’t believe Hodge and Lewis and Mitchell have had any real effect on Hawthorn’s success?

I agree. Isnt your aim as a footy player to win a premiership? Hawthorn needed a defender identified Frawley and he accepted. Lets face it, it wouldnt have been happy times when he was there. Do u think Lake regrets leaving the dogs. Hell no. I bet if it was Sylvia playing next week for a medal there would be more outrage because id tell you right now he would not be deserving as one. Frawley had to play in that backline when the ball just kept getting pumped back in there. It wouldn't have been fun times. Good luck to him.

"This is why I left Melbourne. It was always my ambition to be a bit-part player of mostly kinda adequate standard, getting drastically overpaid and riding other people's ability and teamwork, all towards winning a premiership".

Well, meh. the only way this should affect Demonland is a temporary un-censoring of the word f.l.o.g.

I think they're making a stand at the contract table. In the meantime, in season, they are playing it sensibly, IMO. There won't be many pre-2013 players left soon. It's a year by year process that unfortunately takes a bit of time.

There club didn't fail them over and over with poor decisions, they had a strong plan, stuck to it and are now getting rewards, good on them for cashing in

hmm it is a very interesting point. Because Jeremy Howe has played exactly the same hand.

As a member i get angry, But if i was a Sponsor i would question what is the point if the players in the senior side are in 2nd gear

We have seen it 3 times in the last few years

F$&@ing stinks.

In three years time we can enjoy Brayshaw say:

"I am really glad Frawley left this club, because if he stayed I would not be at Melbourne to be part of this premiership"

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
