2015 FINALS

Recommended Posts

Please......Can we all stop whineing about Hawthorn. They are a great club and use trading and free agency very well to build a winning side.

Buddy went via free agency and they did not miss a beat.

People whined about Brisbane a few years ago, saying they were unbeatable and would win flags for ten years. Didn't happen.

Instead of hating them I admire them, a very good CLUB, both on and off the field.

And good on James Frawley, played a very solid game on one of the best forward in the game and I hope he does really well next week.

If you gotta hate then go ahead I don't think he will give a stuff.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but think it deserves a re-mention. Another failed attempt by Ross Lyon. His teams always stumble near the final hurdle. He'll never win a flag. I like it.

Yes, I can't stand Lyon, but I do feel a little sorry for Pavlich who deserves to go out on a high.

You've just got to love the Freo supporters... particularly the guy in the number 10 Freo jersey who started abusing anybody and everybody and when approached by a woman who told him he was ruining it for the kids, punches her in the face. Seriously, there is a very good case for banning the sale of alchohol completely from these kinds of events. I hope the guy does jail time considering all of the publicity the violence against women campaign has been receiving lately... there is absolutely no excuse!

Spot on Bossdog I agree 100%.

Hawthorn is everything the MFC should be.

Hope JF wins a flag he deserves it after years of crap.

It is a pity for Pavlich but the AFL didnt want to have the dockers style go to the main stage.

Umpires managed the game accordingly and the result will benefit the Eagles as the AFL: doesnt want an all Vic final as seriously as they didnt want an All WA final

Will be interesting to see if the umpires are required to manage an Eagles victory.

Wow...Great conspiracy. I didn't realise the AFL controlled all results via umpiring.

Umpires make mistakes as do the players. Always will because they are human. Get over it.

Hawthorn may have won anyway, but those two goals from momentum-killing umpires' errors in the first quarter do raise a question. Now I expect a Hawthorn-Eagles GF, and I hope the Eagles win - not that I love the Eagles more, but I hate them less. Not interested enough to watch.

Deserves it?

Nobody 'deserves' a flag. You should earn it.

He's cantered through the season doing very little of note, more poor games than good, playing for a club where his position is at its easiest, feeding off a culture, list and gameplan which have been cultivated, developed and proven over a number of years without him having any impact whatsoever.

Spending years losing at Melbourne (and not putting 100% effort in at all times whilst doing it) does not mean you have earned or deserve a flag.

I think there is an even better case for tracking people who abuse alcohol and take away their right to drink it. Why should thousands of responsible people be prohibited on account of a few who have no self-control?

The AFL need to stop drinking their own bathwater and admit that expansion has had a tumultuous and long-term effect on the viability of this, now, 18 team competition.

The dilution of young talent to only two clubs has upset the natural order of the draft and thus prolonged the ability for teams like Hawthorn to maintain their position at the top. If you distributed the lists of GWS and GC to the bottom 8 clubs, the competition would be radically different today.

Yes except they didn't build this dual premiership side on the back of trades or FA. That has helped but their repeated success is built on great drafting in 2001 through to 2007 where they worked the priority system well and with the help of Freo giving the first pick in 2001. Hodge, Mitchell, Roughy, Franklin, Lewis, Stratten, Rioli form the nucleus of what makes the side great. The trades have played support roles, Burgoyne excepted.

Over it. [censored] Hawthorn.

Still haven't been able to convert the girlfriend. We've been together almost nine years. Never beaten her mob once. The closest we got was a 12 point loss in 2010(?). Cannot wait until they fall from their perch. Give some others a shot.

I wonder if Hawthorn's decline will coincide with Clarkson's eventual departure, much like Alex Fergurson's retirement at the scum, I mean United. I hope so.

He put in the vast majority of the time he was at the MFC pity we did not have another dozen as good.

You can hate all you like I wish him well. I hope he gets the NSM next week.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
