Is it true that he gives his opposition the Jitters, Bugg?

Wham!

Huh? He's not unattractive.

Sure, he's no Chris Mainwaring, but he's no Joe Daniher either.

Any chance there could be a thread started exclusively for all the oddballs and outcasts to post their excruciatingly lame and unfunny puns?

It's pages and pages of absolute dross on here because of it.

Off-season.

What are we realistically going to be able to get Bugg for?

would pick 43 be enough?

I reckon about the same as Frost cost us last year.

Pick 20 odd, was there a swap of later picks as well? can't really remember

I reckon about the same as Frost cost us last year.

They haven't offered Bugg a contract, they wanted to keep Frost, 3rd rounder should do it imo.

I reckon GWS have youth coming through that they believe will squeeze players like Bugg, among others, out of their best side, so they don't rate certain players as high as they should. GWS have some [censored] talent running around in the twos..

So that maybe why they haven't offered Bugg a contract, that and he must really want to come home, he's been linked with a trade home for a couple of years now I reckon..

Big Yes to bugg

GWS has a problem with the talent at the high end of its academy programme. It recently nominated eight players under the provisions of the AFL Club Academies Rule:-

Jock Cornell (Mangoplah), Nicholas Coughlan (Albury Tigers), Matthew Flynn (Narrandera), Harrison Himmelberg (Mangoplah), Jacob Hopper (North Ballarat Rebels), Jack Irvine (Temora), Matthew Kennedy (Collingullie) and Lachlan Tiziani (Albury).

The bidding system is likely to place the two players bolded inside the top ten and one would imagine the Giants would like to be able to draft at least three others. To do this they need to accumulate a certain number of points which they can only do by acquiring more draft picks. They also need to off load listed players to make room for these players, hence they are putting players like Bugg up for trade - it's an absolute necessity to enable them to take advantage of the strength of their academy crop at the same time as the draft pool is generally considered as shallow.

Great problem to have, and great for us too if we can take advantage of it.

Tomas Bugg looks to be a handy pick up (if we get him).

Thanks for getting his first name right RB.

That won't be an issue with Treloar leaving and potentially McCarthy.

one in the top ten wouldn't be a problem, but two might.

hey, we could get pick 3 and then nominate the better one of the two, which is probably jacob hopper?

cal twomey's prediction was #5.

Hopper's dominance for NSW/ACT saw him named its most valuable player. He averaged 26 disposals and eight clearances across the Rams' three matches and was clearly a level above. He is a competitive ball-winner capable of shaping the momentum of a game through sheer effort around the contest. Hopper, who is a member of the Giants academy and seems likely to head there at the end of the year, also likes to press forward and kick goals, evidenced by his bag of four in round one of the TAC Cup.

186 / 82.

Sorry, no news - just a note: Bugg is OOC and can go through the drafts if he so chooses, he can nominate to go through the PSD alone if he wishes.

We could call it something like 'you've been punted'. gidit, hahahahahaha

I get the feeling that Bugg & Kennedy are going to be wrapped up in a threeway trade with us, GWS and Collingwood that sends Bugg & Kennedy to us, Howe & Treloar to Collingwood and Picks to GWS.

Anymore info here have we gone cold? Or are we waiting for other trades to go through on Thursday/ Friday??

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
