talking of doozies mandee, have a look at your avatar. that could be a dockers doozy clash strip

Damn DC you made me research doosy, doozie, dusey.

Seems it may derive from the car/family Duesenberg or the actress Eleonora Dusey or from daisy which became dusey. How it became doozie or doosy who knows. Anyway I accept your spelling is more correct than mine.

Edit: Re avatar. My business logo - Melboune colours on the green grass of the MCG. No Fremantle cannot have it. Perhaps i could include an anchor?

We Should be wearing the Red as an alternate strip it is Common Sense. Just Like Carlton & Richmond you do the opposite of your traditional gurnsey. We have a Red V with Blue background so we should do the opposite have a Blue V with Red background. If you only have 2 Colours there is no need put a colour in your gurnsey that is not in your Traditional Gurnsey. I don't understand what is with this stupid white strips with alot of the teams not just us Hawthorn & Adelaide included in this.

Is red not still deemed dark? Didn't we have a terrible and even more clash-worthy reverse against Essendon once upon a time? The Saints can just get their Pura Milk vests out of the closet and everyone should be happy.

Something I whipped up about a month ago. I'd Like to see us use something like these obviously using the reverse as often as possible, but when we can't we use the Invincible Whites clash version which goes back to when we wore all white in the 1890s. Never getting rid of the red legs though, I think that's important. I think the all white might rub a few people the wrong way but I've never been a fan of mixing our colours with white, prefer to go all the way.

Really really like. Although id made the white one a really pale red and blue, to the point of being nearly white, instead of grey

Brisbane was allowed to wear its red and blue Fitzroy jumper with red socks against us last week and the AFL didn't deem that to be a clash in any way. I can't work out the rules. I'm convinced they make it up as they go.

All credit to you, PRIME. If you can remember the 1890s and can use the Internet you are just amazing. In fact perhaps invincible.

Yes it's proof that they just make it up depending on which clubs they can bully. Have a look at Carlton v Collingwood or ask why hawthorn wore the dark brown vs ports black. It's a nonsense. I thought PJ had shown some backbone and stood up to the afl but clearly not.

IIRC the AFL allow them to wear their heritage jumper for some small number of Melbourne games. As last week was their only MCG game for the year, I presume that sentiment overrode whatever is left of the threads of the clash jumper policy.

The Online Demon Shop has come along in leaps and bounds in a few months...

I am in IT and what they had up until very recently was just awful to use and to look at.

I wonder if they have seen a jump in sales? But again, you have to sell the change - I had no idea there was an updated interface and payment system until I saw Jeremy wearing that top and I wanted to buy it...

Well....I know I am in the minority but I hate the red jumper but I also hate the coaching staffs red polo tops.

Would much prefer the navy blue apparel they used to wear when Daniher was coaching.

I would also ask why we are compelled to wear alternative jumper when we played Richmond in our traditional jumpers.

It just doesn't make much sense to me, even with black and white TV I didn't have a problem distinguishing between clubs even on muddy grounds.

Oh well, I guess nobody else gives a stuff.....The club....the AFL....All except Collingwood supporters

Bossdog I was trying to stay off this thread but cannot help myself.

I will be in a group of one but I prefer the white jumper to the red.

But then I don't really care at present what we wear just bloody win.

Looks like one of our better ones....

If you had any doubt that the AFL rules for some and rules for others and literally make this clash jumper crap up as they go, flick on foxtel ch. 503 and look at the orange vs red . No white shorts even for either side. Add in the red seating at the stadium and you literally have a blur of red/orange. Garbage rule

Can't have any threat to the consistent branding and marketability problem in NSW.

It's what happens when expansion is determined by a marketing department.

I note that Essendon have been given permission to ditch their red/grey clash geurnsey next season as well. Yet another rich team given special treatment by the AFL.

Spot on. It makes me angry, and I know that a lot of people say it's a non issue, move on, but I really wish we had some spine on this issue and stood up to the afl. The white jumper dilutes our brand and every time I see a kid in the white jumper at games I cringe. That's not Melbourne, it's not the representation of what I am proud of.

Our all red clash is perfectly acceptable and was used for years without issue. We were one of the first to accommodate the AFL and networks by using an alternate strip. I guess that's why we get pushed around on the issue.

Was not a fan of the red today. Just didn't look like Melbourne playing. That said it didn't really look like football either, but that's another thread.

Why can't the numbers on the back be blue?

Maybe it's just me but in their red jumpers yesterday I had more trouble than usual identifying the players.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with the red jumper...other than the fact that it isn't necessary to have alternate strips in the first place.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
