Hogan (and Garland?) available next round too. Feels like forever since our injury list has actually shrunk between matches. If both are available there are going to be two terribly stiff players playing for Casey that round.

Stretch is slowly becoming a weapon. He looks really flashy and evasive and he's not a bad kick either.

Dunn played perhaps his best game ever.

Credit to Dawes, even though he looked a bit proppy he certainly contributed for forward pressure and he held on to a couple of good marks, which is all he needs to do.

Also, one of the biggest surprises was Gawn and Spencer's pairing. Spencer wasn't amazing like Gawn, but he didn't lower his colours or look lost out there

Agree on just about all that. Dawes played as good as game as he did against Adelaide last year. He didn't hit the scoreboard, but he showed leadership in spades today. He was a real general up forward. He also took two great contested marks. It set the tone.

Really happy with both Spencer and Gawn's games.

Last week was more furious with the players than I have been for years. This week, they can get stuffed because it's the first time I've missed a Vic game I could have been at in years - so of course we won!!!

Brayshaw is a complete footballer. Amazing.

We kicked a big score but we won the game in defence - which shows what the best Paul Roos coached side can do.

Best thing is there's still plenty of improvement and blokes to come back in!

IMO, we won the game in the middle. Dunn was brilliant and our team defence was fantastic, but it was won in the middle of the ground.

I really wanted too. My camera phone is rubbish though. Only got one of the wider ground. We were in row 1 and still not closer enough to get it. Horrible viewing ground that place.

He's probably the best player to get a head coaching job if you take out those who were gifted the role at their former clubs - a list that includes Roos but mainly I mean Voss, Buckley and Hird. Now that counts for little overall but I think the great players who were often great captains/leaders get respect and get the players to play for them very naturally. If McCartney helps him with the teaching then that's teaching and motivation ticked off which is probably 2/3rds of the coaching puzzle. When Roos goes maybe we can snaffle someone from the Hawks system for some tactical advice and we might have most bases covered.

And I want Roos to head up our academy. I hope PJ is already talking to him about this/has talked to him about it.

A couple of little things ANB banged his heart a couple of times and he knew where it was all day. So did the rest of them.

The replay shows I think what was mouthed between Selwood and Jones.

Johnston tried to change Demon focus but it didn't work this time.

Really pleased for the players and the smiles on those particular supporters faces in the front rows after the game

when the players came over showed me that MFC is so important to all.

Kicking 3 goals at the Cattery in just your 2nd game is a super effort. He showed he knows where the goals are.

Had to settle for watching a replay late tonight as I didn't get a chance to watch it live. Not knowing the score...well.

A few observations

Watts is now a footy player, so cool under pressure and gives off beautifully. I think Macca has really started to make a difference here, I love that Watts will now hold the ball and take the tackle and he is starting to lock down some good tackles.

As I said last week ANB's first couple of VFL games saw him 2 touching, missing targets and not positioning well but in the next few he got the hang of it. Last week he struggled with the step up to AFL but this week he steadied and will be even better from here on. The kid can play.

Dom was back, and it made a big difference. With Jones, Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw and Vince we had a midfield.

Thought Stretch was pretty good today.

Brayshaw is a gun, if Petracca is the equal or better then with Hogan we are looking at some good times ahead.

I didn't think the Cats would trouble the top teams this year and they have some key injuries as do we. Take the win and look at where we've come from.

We still have a long way to go but at least we're finally on the path.

Just listened to his interview with SOS on the MFC website. Bloody hell. He speaks like a champ. A really good presenter. He and SOS both do actually. Really good heads on their shoulders, I reckon. Can't wait to see Petracca enter this mix and then whoever we pick up at the end of this year too.

That's the thing. Add someone like Prestia (who would be far more likely to view MFC as a viable destination come the end of the season) to Jones, Vince, Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca and Salem. We are building something here. It won't be immediately obvious to the rest of the competition, but in two or three years time, Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca and Salem will have played their 50-60 games and we'll really start to see them dominate other midfields. If Max and Jake can keep improving, we can then start to really add some depth to our squad. Then you've got a bloke called Jesse Hogan up forward. Seriously, we could have a couple of A graders on our hands for the first time in my 27 years.

Still staggers me that Bontempelli lost the thing last year. Lewis Taylor hasn't shown much at all this year, but the Bont is carrying his team to wins.

Bontempelli has been overated this year. He will be a good player in the future but Lewis Taylor has continued with his good form. Has 30 plus disposals on the weekend.

I think the win was immense for this club and deserves a proper celebration and recognition for the effort that it was - we played finals football and scored 113 points against an in-form side with the mental demons of the last 10 years, at that ground, in Enright's 300th, they were in form and we were coming off a demoralising loss, and they also had a 9 day break to our 7.

However, in general I think we do need to make sure we don't get carried away. One of the hallmarks of our recent wins is our infamous inability to back them up the following week. That surely comes in part from over-celebrating each win (they're so few and far between). In that regard, I think having the bye at this point is great timing. We get to enjoy the win, then rest, then come back and focus the next week, hopefully with this win a bit behind us.

A new day looks much brighter for us Demon tragics, at last!

Gus Brayshaw, this kid is something(Harveyesque,saints, mould),gut runs, busts tackles, is so hungry for leather or man with leather, already a leader with that sorta mindset.

As a team we are learning what it's all about, finally, last week was a lesson that really hurt the group as a whole, ANB heart thumping said a lot yesterday, 4 me anyway, hopefully 4 our MFC.

A fantastic team effort I was only pessimistically hoping 4 prior to the bounce, I was a pleasure to b around....lol.....was by myself. Lotsa fist pumping an f...k u [censored]. Love all you Demons.

About 10% of them left the stand i was in.

But most stayed to applaud their champ off the ground.

And many that walked past us after the game gave us a "well played today" as we stood in sheer happiness.

Very nice of the supporters to admire our win and our supporters doggedness to be there yet again.

Geelong players love calling for free kicks. Can't remember if it was in the third or fourth when being tackled by Dunn over the boundry line but Hawkins was clearly appealing for a free mid tackle. He ended up touching the ball on the ground and Dunn won the free. I didn't mind Guthrie until yesterday however he had a few cheap shots and also played for frees, obviously emulating Selwood.

I was surprised to see Geelong had 20 or so more tackles, thought that was a stat we would have one, out pressure was excellent. Garlett was excellent, played his role to a tee and had some important touches in the mid field.

The Geelong supporters were feral, they were incredibly abusive even before the game started, then they turned on their own, and we had the last laugh. It was awesome and so very enjoyable. Well done boys!

I sat right behind the bench this game and it game me an interesting perspective.

First of all, the players were aware of how long was left in the quarter at all times. Obviously a massive focus this week and hilariously still yelling "1 minute left" when we were 4 goals up in the last quarter which prompted a geelong supporter to yell out at Millsy "relax, you've got this."

Secondly you realise how important and Vocal Jones and Watts are even off the field. Both players dont sit down on their breaks, preferring to stand up and coach/encourage on the sidelines. Watts doesn't shut up on the boundary. Great to see.

And lastly i was really impressed with how composed and relaxed they all were off the field. They really seemed quietly confident that it was their day.

So great being in Geelong for this massive win for the club. You could hear a pin drop when walking out of the ground. No one in the stadium including the geelong players rated us any chance, and it was just a massive middle finger up at them performing the way we did. Great Great win.
