GAME DAY - Round 10

Featured Replies

Ever since the tradition of the Queens Birthday game against Collingwood began, this fixture has been seen as a milestone game for the season.

It's situated at close to the half way mark and the Pies have always been strong contenders who don't take kindly to a lack of success so it's usually a good measuring stick as to how we've been traveling.

Unfortunately, we've been so abysmal for so long that it's taken on the appearance and the feel of Groundhog Day except for 2010 when we thought we had broken through.

Five years later, we're still waiting ...

We had 4 in a row from 2004-07 but it's been slim pickings other than that. We need to show up today (supporters and team) otherwise the AFL will be within their rights to seriously question this game as an annual fixture.

I may of missed it, but I've not heard any players refer to this as " our grand final"

And thank [censored] for that.

I hated when they did that.

I feel quietly confident. Very quiet but some confidence none the less. My old man is Collingwood so we normally enjoy today, hopefully I can enjoy it more than him for once.

Pretty sure I just saw Mark Neeld on my flight. Not sure I love that omen.

It is not a bus Nasher you should be fine.

It's not a public holiday here, Unfortunately I woke up feeling a bit under the weather...

That's what happens when you live in WA mate.

The queen doesn't like you... well not till September

Well you know my advice in such situations Ethan.

I'm expecting a case of wine to be delivered anytime now, tissues and baby oil are at the ready.

Today is the first queens birthday match I've missed in 7 years. I've never seen melbourne win, the closest I've seen was a draw. I remember having a good feeling turning up in 2011 when we had a run of good form leading into the game and Collingwood had a few players out, only to be beaten by 15 goals. I sat last year with the family of 2 of our current players and watched perhaps the most boring game of footy I've ever seen. If it wasn't for work I'd be there again, but I am sick to death of waiting all weekend to watch this game and hope we put in a fight, only to get steamrolled. With the events leading up to today, and Neale having his input at training etc, the players owe it not only to Neale, but the rest of the supporters who have put up with so many mediocre performances on this day over the past 7 years.

The windy weather won't help with our poor foot skills and if it turns into an arm wrestle I feel we have too many players who can't win 1 on 1 contests compared to Collingwood. Collingwood look quite tall with 2 rucks and white which could lead to a late change if it starts to rain early. Really hope gawn shows he is capable, think this is the best ruck combination he could compete against to get some confidence. I'd love to say we are going to win but I feel Collingwood have too much midfield depth for us, which has been the story of our year. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Would like to think H will play his best game of the year against his old club!

Hasn't looked motivated yet so this game might kick-start his season. I hope.

Hope they weren't serving sour gummies on the plane

I have no idea which Melbourne will turn up, but Collingwood is the kind of team that gets on a roll. Can't see us getting within 5 goals.

Hope they weren't serving sour gummies on the plane

Mark Neeld looks so much like Michael Douglas in "Falling Down" that it's almost unbelievable.

Would be nice if he brought something to the table.

I have been making an effort to tell every filth supporter I meet that today is their GF. A bit of reverse psychology so hopefully it will help.

And the Orange jacket goes to????

My tip Matt Jones! anyone think differently?

I'm tipping a late change of Grimes in for Fitzpatrick.

I would be happy with that - nothing against Fitzy but think we have gone in just a bit tall.

Gawn, Pedo and Fitzy on top of Hogan and Watts is one too many.

Our run and spread is bad enough as it is.

Probably Jones

Could be the Toump but would rather he get a full game.

Brayshaw you would think only if he is fatigued

Watts - if you are choosing a sub I assume you want someone who could come in and provide some run/significant impact (not Watts)

Agree with that Young. Besides Fitzy was deplorable last week.

Sadly Jack I think the wait is still another year away
