Harmes and King have been on the rookie list for the last 2 yrs, perhaps the club needs to take a chance on one of them. An upgrad is possilble due to long term injuries to Petracca and Trengove. Vander got an update to from rookie list to seniors. Nothing ventured is

nothing gained. I hate to see long term rookies ( > 2yrs), train and develop them.

Well Rory Sloane re-signed after his parents moved back from Adelaide to Upwey.

Well done Adelaide, I guess. Bad luck Saints and Dees who both had claims.

I thought he was gone.

There goes one of my hopes. Maybe we can shake something loose out of the Swans , GWS or Suns. Pick 4 or 5 should be a handy start .

Will be interesting to see whether the new F/S and academy rules shake out similar quality players from the Swans, GWS or Bris, or will it be smoke and mirrors by the AFL giving an appearance that they are not providing another leg up to the rugby stronghold states.

Speaking of f/s. What point penalty would we get for Lovett.

He shouldn't cost too much. Currently tipped to go late in the draft as it is, and it would be odd for anyone to bid overs for him.

His father became a great player for us, but it was after he was 21 he started showing ability. His son may be in the same mould.

Rumour flying around at work that a victorian team that isn't richmond or geelong has offered danger a buddy like deal.

Hawthorn or Collingwood im guessing.

No idea dazzle, i think its irresponsible to give up that sort of money/years for a mid who i don't consider to be gary ablett or nat fyfe level

Gotta pay someone.

They were talking about Collingwood on SEN. The plan being, Swan out, Dangermouse in, on maybe twice as much as Pendles.

Great recipe for instability, I sincerely hope they go for it.

When is it time to get in Swan's ear?

He left the crows did he?

It's this difference between "resigns" and "re-signs". Where's the hyphen, people??!!

In Sloane's case, unfortunately the latter.

Collingwood have the cap room for Dangerfield, their list management had been clever the past few seasons and I'm sure if Swanny is done the pies could strike a deal with 800k+ per season.

Hawthorn simply cannot have the cap room for a top tier free agent.

Apparently Aaron Black is disgruntled at the Roos and may request a trade back to Freo - if he was looking for more game time is he worth a look as a 3rd forward type for us? Maybe we try and convince him to come over with the promise of more game time... or is he just another guy like Dawes who shows a bit in the shop window without there being much behind it?

Black is a good player

That'd be crazy. Pendles is more valuable than Dangerfield (as good as he is).

You're right in it being a recipe for instability I reckon.

We thought the same at Sydney with Buddy but it hasn't really happened.

The Pies have lost Beams and have Swan in his later years so may make some sense to have a go at Danger. I think Pendles would have to be up on similar money though.

I think it was a little different with Buddy. Bringing in the best key forward in the competition on huge money is a little different than brining in a star midfielder, especially when you already have one in Pendles.

Sure, Sydney had Tippett, but we all know Buddy is better.

Does bringing in great players on great money ever really cause instability? I've heard supporters use that line often, but I can't recall any evidence of that happening in my lifetime.

I would have thought in the professional era, most players would look past the envy of the big income earners and would be quite happy to have a superstar added to their side to enhance their flag chances.

I suppose when you start winning it mitigates the envy issue somewhat.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
