This concerns me. You haven't been wrong for a while.

I was optimistic leading into the Freo game and even thought we could bounce back with a competitive effort against Sydney. On both occasions I was way off the mark.

Just once, I'd love for us to beat Hawthorn. I'll even take us being in striking distance at 3/4 time. I'm sick of them smashing us.

I hardly think I'm going out on a limb with this one.

Is it wrong to want Hogan to chicken wing Frawley?

Hoping for a competitive performance and a close margin. Ho hum.

These three weeks were always going to be pretty ugly. So far going to script.

Back in the country after missing last weeks game

I didn't watch the game versus Sydney but it was the only game of the 3 dreaded ones I thought we had a chance in

Given that, we will surely get smashed.

How do you think my day could be, driving 300ks with 2 bloody hawk fans (daughter & sonoutlaw) but on the upside meeting grand daughter and little bro, both demon members. I might use the old "go easy think off my heart condition bit"

Go Dees ya can do it.

Make them walk.

I think smashed. And not in a good way.

I want to see a couple of good Hip & Shoulders aim around the rib area

Luke McCabe Style.

We cannot afford to let this arrogant slime rape us yet again

I hope Chup plays...

I have a strange feeling that there will be more than just a bit of niggle in this game.

My concern will be that the Hawks are much better than us at that and we'll be put off our game with very negative consequences.

I am married to one HT are you suggesting divorce for the team?

No nooky until she changes teams.

I remember back in the early 00s when Hawthorn were (among) the league's whipping boys and we were consistently considered finals potential. We smashed them by 10 goals a few times, but there were 2 games I remember where they got super physical and smashed us, both times unexpectedly. That happened often under Daniher. Anyway, those matches kind of set the tone for Hawthorn 2007-2015 and we haven't been close to a decent team since we last beat them 9 years ago.

Prediction: Dees by 112

What did Chris Dawes say?

Bugger what he says,if he could hold a mark, THAT would help

In: Michie, Jones, Bail, Grimes

Out: Pedersen, Watts, Newton, Kennedy-Harris

Watts - about time - shouldn't be brought back until a solid stint at VFL

Not sure about Grimes (until Jetta returns) or Jones (until Viney returns)

Michie was a stiff omission last week and Bail probably an improvement on JKH

Watts finally out. We now know we will have 22 players committed to the contest. Great news.. I expect it will lift the spirits of the players who are n doubt tired of having to carry him every week.

Disappointed about Newton but its probbaly fair, hes just not getting enough of the ball for a supposed ready to go midfielder.

Grimes in is good, and hopefully means Salem will spend time in the midfield.

JKH has an injury, the rest are dropped.

And against the Hawks, who are deadly on the rebound and when there is a turnover, we decide to bring in 3 blokes who butcher the ball regularly. First time this year I'm not all that happy with the ins, but we aren't going to beat the Hawks anyway so I guess it's a moot point.

We got outmuscled and outrun last week. We have no way of competing in muscle, so we try to bring in run.

Jones and Bail will be compliant as well. I can see what they're thinking, but it is very back to future.. and that makes me nervous.

Bail? Grimes? Matt Jones? Hello 2013!

Didn't even occur to me at first as I couldn't look past these three names, but we're going in with Spencer instead of Jamar again, this time with Dawes as his back-up. Good lord.

The issue last week was we didn't have mids that ran hard enough so we had no options to kick forward to. That will be the reason Bail, Jones and Grimes are in. Michie should not have been dropped the previous week. The issue wont be run this week but kicking may be. Good that they have continued with Spencer, Stretch and Toump. I cannot for the life of me understand how Howe continues to get a game. Must be on his last chance.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
