G'Day Demonlanders,

I'm going to be in Hobart this weekend and wondered if any locals could recommend a good pub to watch the game. Ideally in the city, Salamanca or Battery Point area.

Thanks,

Hells

The Prince of Wales in Battery Point is a nice pub to watch the footy. Give them a call to make sure they're playing it because I haven't been there in a while.

Customs House bar is best, you will need a good drink, drop your credit card behind the bar and just top up the bill as you go, otherwise West Point Casino, easy to ditch your scarf and other identifying materials and melt into the crowd after quarter time.

As Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”

Yes, was going to suggest Customs House. Can't be much more help than that sorry, I normally just watch it at home.

Wise move Nasher.

Crying in public is not a good look.

Went to Hobart on a footy trip a few years ago. They stopped letting anyone in to pubs with Victorian ID because they thought we were all trouble. I can only presume they don't like footy in Tasmania.

Prince of Wales will play it. Went there last year with a Carlton supporter. Was good to get one back on him.

Its not the greatest place to watch the game though.

Most patrons won't be very interested. So the sound is not turned up as much as you would like. A band will start setting up at some point too.

Never thought of going to customs house to watch a game, but it's a great little pub.

I use to go to the Casino about 5 years ago. They have many TV's and will play it somewhere. Usually another couple of dees supporters too.

Pretty sure the sports bar got removed a few years ago, so I stopped going. They would still play it somewhere there though.

I would have come out with you hells bells but I'll be in Launceston!

We love our footy.

However I have had 2 nights ruined by end of year football trips in Salamanca.

One involved a bloke coming up to my then girlfriend and asking her "Are your [censored] real?" (They were, and they were Amazing)

I told this guy to "Go away, she is with me and you are being rude". (Exact words) His teammates then proceeded to surround me and told me to get the [censored] out of their pub and that I was lucky that I wasn't leaving in an ambulance.

The second one was 2 years later and involved pissing in bottles and then pouring them on passes by. Including my friend.

LOL, nice conclusion.

The alternative is we don't like yobbo Victorian amateur footballers coming to our pubs harassing our women and starting fights with our blokes.

One of those is probably true.

Now one of those is true, Nasher. :)

Telegraph Hotel - $10 steins and burgers, if you like a younger crowd that does get a bit loose.

Seen pretty much the same thing, but my mate got sucker punched from behind then had his head stomped. Had to have a metal plate inserted into his face.

I'm sure it was just that he didn't like footy.

Hells,

The owner of the Doctor Syntax is a mad Dees supporter and is trying to make the sports bar the unofficial home of the Tassie Dees. He's an Irishman, so plenty of Jimmy memorabilia on the walls!

Will def be on the big screen live, and plenty of good beers on tap.

How do they tell the difference?

If you want a bit of local flavour - head to the Waggon and Horses in North Hobart!!

Plus the brothers of one of our beloved Dees players run/own it

I know I'll be there, drinking Australia's finest brew (Cascade Draught) ha

Nicely seasonal, Blue. Care to nominate which Messiah the fans will be getting ready to crucify by the time the last quarter rolls around?

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
