Forget Watts! He hasn't done enough work.

Pig, he doesn't need skill work, but he has done miles and miles in laps, think they are just getting him right for one the NAB cup games ... or at least that is what he told me...maybe wishful thinking

They are working on it Clint, now his shoulders are fully functional he is doing a bit more weights, he knows he needs to be stronger, they just don't want him bigger, so as I have mentioned before it is an individual progam for him

TDI and other track watchers I would be interested in your views. For me, Fitzy has always had the physical attributes but has lacked footy smarts. He is not a natural. Despite his size and pace, I have never seen Fitzy impose himself on a game and his hand-eye coordination seems poor (missed marks and fumbles) and his kicking is not great. Given his history and his battle with diabetes I would love to see him make it, but I have doubts. From what you have seen pre-season do you see it any differently? How much longer do you give him?

I want him to get full face tatts.

And to dress as an emu before every game.

I was at the eagles game and he had a couple of cracking goals. Still don't know how he actually did it, but most of the game he was pretty good.

Websites saying Goschs is going ahead tomorrow, hope thats still accurate because I plan to drop by while in the area. Would also save me disappointment if anyone can confirm its back at Goschs and not out in Casey again

I have covered the Fitzy size issue previously, he is now 99kg it is just spread out over 200cm, they don't want him any bigger

I want him to be stronger.

I'd like him to be taller

I want him to have one-grab hands. I think that would solve most of his issues.

Fitz looked like ripping apart a Darwin game against the lion in 2013.

Got a knock to the head after 4 goals and faded out IIRC...

Too right. His shonky kicking is less than ideal as well. And yeah it would be nice if he had more strength in the contest or was taller with a bigger leap, but really his pace is an absolute weapon and he seems to lead better than we probably give him credit. If he could hold more marks he'd probably make it or at least be better than average depth. With Dawes suspended in round 1 it should be a fair battle in the nab challenge for the 2nd key forward as well as back up ruck spots. Let the best man win.

I was there too. Those goals were rippers, something a big man shouldn't be able to do. There is something about him that is worth persisting.

i want him to be wittier

My colleague Dr Dank has a little time on his hands currently and may by able to help.

Not sure about the wit part, though. Steve hasn't mentioned any PEDs for that.

For those who have been at training, can Kent make the jump this year and become one of our more damaging players. I've been watching 2014 on fox over the last few weeks and he just stands out. Excellent kick, strong body, pace, can kick a goal, and aggressive. One of my favourite players and really hope he can go on with it this year and grab a top 5 b n f

Agreed. I'm a Fitzy fan and think there are a lot of positives for a guy of 200cm, but equally some glaring deficiencies. If he can improve even a little on a couple of those there might be a regular spot in 2015. He is still very young for a big man, 24 I think. Would benefit from 6-8 consecutive games.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
