I don't want to prolong this, but I have revisited the interview and it is abundantly clear that Brock didn't want to talk about it. He was pushed and prodded and harassed by Sheahan, Healy and Roos. It is quite clear he became uncomfortable with where they were going, but they wouldn't let up. They got what they wanted from a young man, who tried to play it down,but was basically attacked by 3 experienced TV men, one of whom is now our big white hope.

Lets not change history, that is the way it went down.

Further if AD was in the country at the time, nothing would have happened.

I actually thought Sheahan's part in it was pathetic, as he was the main antagonist and was like a dog with a bone and he is meant to be a Melbourne supporter.

Mclean i believe was speaking on behalf of the players. The guys who got smashed around on the field whilst Schwab sat in his office working out ways to "not win"

I managed to speak to Brad Miller and Greeny at different times about it after it all went down

Player morale was really low, so in that respect i am glad answers were extracted from Mclean

It was a dark time for the MFC…But the benefit was it got rid of all he crap from our club and helped us land Jackson and Roos.

he was indecisive so they kept prodding

all had to say was "i was never asked to tank", "the players never tried to lose"

when prodded about coaching moves all he had to say was "you will have to ask the coach about that"

I don't believe it is rubbish.

The players perspective would be a lot different to those sitting in the grandstand.

Mclean had left but he still had mates at the club...

Getting injured whilst knowing the team wasn't supposed to win would be hard to take over 1-2 seasons...

The whole thing has irony written all over it, given that Sheahan is a Melbourne supporter, Healy a former Melbourne player (and a very good one at that), and Roos is the current Melbourne coach. I haven't seen the interview recently, but Brock being caught out and not realising the consequence of what he was saying seems more likely than most other explanations. Don't forget he had been a Carlton player for nearly three years by this point, so he would have well and truly moved on from us by then, IMHO.

I seriously doubt anything McLean said or did helped us secure Jackson and Roos. We were bad enough on- and off-field for long enough without McLean's help to warrant AFL intervention.

I think he is spot on. All he did was rubbish on about the history and past tense when he should have been focusing on sponsorships and giving fans the run down on financial terms. AGMs are not for briefing about the club history and talking about the glory days. Its about keeping fans updated with the yearly financial terms and profits.

He was too focused on past tense and glory when he should have put all that energy into the club off field instead of interfering with the on field side of things.
