Putting him on the LTI, leaving him on the primary list and advising the media/supports that his return is "season" or "indefinite" is achieving the same result.

He will still need to go through the National Draft for us to then hope to pick him up as a rookie. As he has already been a primary listed player, a club can give him a one year contract, rather than the standard two minimum.

The risk of getting Jack on the rookie list is far greater than that of Jetta. Nothing stopping Richmond "wasting" a pick in the 80's, even though JT will determine his wage. In 12 months time they could easily delist him if his injury has not healed. It's a lot less risk for them using pick 80-something than the proposed pick 12 they were originally offering.

We are achieving absolutely nothing by trying this tactic. We are not disadvantaging ourselves by leaving him "as is". Why don't people understand that???

If he stays on the primary list, he can't be LTI until drafting is over. That means we lose the chance to draft a kid earlier than rookie stage.

If another club jumped in and was prepared to pay his salary this year for not playing and presumably give a longer contract to JT, that is to his benefit. Yes we would get nothing for him, but his loyalty would have been rewarded by us allowing him to get a longer contract elsewhere and move to that club easily.

If he stays on our list this year and never plays again for us, how many clubs would give him a contract or trade for him?

He would also receive less pressure being on a rookie list and could still receive his full contract payment. A reward for his loyalty.

OK, I'll try one more time to clarify for you.

I said at the time of the mooted trade it may be in Trengove's best interest to move on as everyone was assuming he was being pushed out the door. If his foot flared up two weeks later I would have been right on the money.

The "rot" comment relates to the fact he's finished at the Demons. He's not. Unlike you I don't think his decision will be impacted in any way because of the fact he was up for trade this year.

Of course we might be finished with each other next October, Have you only just realized that?

Well, in a way, you could argue Jack being put up for trade opened his eyes to the possibility of switching clubs and what that would entail. It doesn't have to be a sour grapes thing. It could merely be eye-opening. The fact that he considered leaving this year, may well impact his decision at the end of '15.

Mentally, sometimes it's very hard to get back into a situation you thought you'd moved on from. But as you say, Jack seems like the type of kid that would attempt to repay the faith we've placed in him for years.

He'll play AFL again, but not for a few years yet... His best is worth the wait, whether our club can wait... Who knows? He might turn out to be another gem we have stored for the Hawks...

He'll be back in what will later be recognised as one of the all time great comebacks.

We didn't even know his foot was rooted when we tried to ship him off to Tigers, so is it that much of a stretch that we failed to realise he was playing on it injured? Incompetence- that's all it is, it was rife through the club and it probably extended to the medical department.

Im very suspicious of our management of Trengoves ans MC's injuries. I think both were played when they shouldn't have been. We had/have a sub standard injury diagnosis and management team- move them on!

Can I suggest that the Jack Trengove Support Group meets at Jack's place every Monday and Thursday evening at 6.30 and could someone bring along some old videos, a set of dominoes and four packs of playing cards. We'll have him back on track in no time.

Apparently scans can be a bit hard to judge.

And we have evidence of blokes players many years with a bit of help to get through the game with this injury.

His injury might have been managed{J.Hird}did this until he collapsed against carlton one night and it was discoverd further action was needed.

So good management may have taken place and further complications may have developed.

This is actually what concerns me most in respect to a likely outcome resulting in a recovery and strengthened foot sufficient for AFL footy; it is that even with the best looking after and management its just seems one of those types of niggle that persists.
