And if they had have offered it sooner we could have packaged it up and gotten Danger. Ain't that a kick in the teeth lol

No not a kick in the teeth rather a kick in the balls.

It hurts more (something u wouldn't know about sue!)

Mark Stevens just tweeted that gws came late with a massive offer. Pick 6 maybe. Dees didn't have time to consider.

Handy knowledge for next trade period when they have a few young guns coming out of contract next year.

I've just watched a 12 minute highlight (yes 12 mins lol) video on YouTube and I forgot how exciting he is, I change my mind, definite keeper and let's put him back where he belongs- in the forward 50!

I love Howie but that offer a little earlier could have proved really handy in other negotiations.

If true, a deal could have netted us pick 4 and Frost. That would have meant 2,3,4 and 23 and Frost thrown in. Wow. We could have got McCartin plus our rumoured two mids, Brayshaw and Lever and someone at 23.

Wonder what would have happened if that was offered at 10.00AM.

GWS might think that they are good at laying future foundations and at the same time unsettling other clubs...

I think this is close to the mark, they seemed to be running around throwing up late offers and then leaking them to the media.

Trouble making by a bunch of .......

A raffle is not an experienced mid.

Howe takes great hangers but not much else.

A bit harsh....his defensive game has improved this year and he had several very good games running off half back.

I think he's very coachable, brave, fit and has terrific skills.

We need to remove VFL standard players off our list before we shift Howe.

Howe is one of the most consistent high marks I've ever seen. And they are all contested marks. I look forward to seeing how he performs as a member of a more competitive team not having to play in defence because thats where the ball is. Roos has said Howe will play forward in 2015 after a learning year in defence. I'd like to see him play as a half forward/wing ahead of a midfield providing a competitive numbers of Inside Forward 50s. We should have a greater spread of tall and medium and small forward targets next year to capitalise on the greater number of opportunities. Hogan and Dawes should tie up the 2 key defenders Our other medium forwards like Kent and Salem are strong in the air as are small forwards Garlett and Kennedy - Harris.

I'd back Howe to kick 40 goals in 2015 if he is played in that position.

We don't have to be stupid though. Howe has a unique skilset. Lets develop and utilise that ourselves.

Remember the Hawks agreed to trade Sewell to the Dees for Ferguson but Ferguson wanted to say at the Dees.

Would have taken me 1 second to say "deal".

Good pick up, here are all of his tweets:

I love Howe but that's some deal.

6 for Howe....Done..

Took me less than 2 seconds.

No special sauces just unsubstantiated speculation...

Howes' tweet this arvo had me thinking.. "Fair bit going on today #tradeperiod"

From Talking Carlton...

"apparently GWS offered pick 6 for howe and then howes manager asked collingwood if they were interested for pick 5 cos howe doesnt really want to go to GWS

um

wtf?"

I can think of 3 and 6 for Dangerfield. I'd take Dangerfield over Howe and some project every single day of the week.

Obviously, but the evidence suggests there would not have been time to complete that trade due to the lateness of GWS's offer.

Wyl says we should have taken the trade regardless, I want him to tell us that would have improved the team next year.

We knocked back essendon's pick 5 for Garland the year they took Hurley..... I wonder if we would've taken Hurley also? I was glad we kept Garlo at the time, although not so sure now.

In saying that, I'm glad we kept Howe. Natural footballer who did learn a few things under Roos in 2014 & I'm expecting him to take those lessons and apply them going forward, big year ahead for him.

A last minute trade for a contracted player is dumb unless its already known whether that player is willing to move to that club as the player has to consent it. And I doubt any of they players they targeted would've been able to make the leap to the western burbs of Sydney without a bit of time to consider, even for large contract extensions.

No, I have clearly explained that the would not have been time to complete subsequent trades based on the lateness of the offer for Howe.

You need to explain how trading Howe would improve the team based on this evidence, not some fantasyland idea that trading Howe at the last minute would have netted us Dangerfield.

Yes. Such a pity it wasn't 20 minutes earlier.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
