Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mitch Robinson - Delisted FA?

I think he is worth having a chat to. At best he is a hard at it wrecking machine who throws his frame around, at worst he's a major off field disruption. Get Roos to have a chat with him to gauge where he's at, a lot of players can change after being dumped by their club, it could be the making of him. I don't think we're in a position to at least not consider all of our options.

It's honestly bewildering reading comments lambasting someone I would wager none of you have met in your lives.

And for what, exactly?

A comment he never actually made himself ("bruise free"). What a DH!

Defending himself when physically attacked at a music festival. What a DH!

His greatest crime was not being upfront with the club regarding his involvement with Garlett, who reportedly was also attacked. But of course let's assume the worst cause it's Robinson. Did I mention..what a DH!!!

I'm sure none of you have ever touched a drop of alcohol or gone out and found yourself In a situation you'd rather not be in. A bunch of pristine angels.

His on field value is what matters, and that is debatable. He didn't have the most inspiring season but Malthouse was clearly never a huge fan.

Any off field stuff is a bunch of overblown tripe. This idea that he could corrupt the club is absolutely ridiculous.

There's clearly a theme regards the incidents he's been a part of, whether they were started by someone else is besides the point when you're a professional sportsman. Being involved in nightclub scuffles at 5 am during the H&A season doesn't indicate professionalism let alone any level of sound judgement.

As a footballer, Robinson has had some good performances but those saying he's a walk-up start in our best 22 are over rating the bloke by a fair bit. Maybe a couple of years ago but not now.

I couldn't imagine he'd be the right fit for our club from both a personality and playing POV. But, as you say, I don't know the bloke from a bar of soap other than media he's received for being a DH.

Poor skills but hard supposedly. But we have/had Tapscott who I reckon is a real hard nut wrecking ball. So no I don't want him.

Robinson has played great footy at AFL level

Tapscott hasnt shown a thing

So just to be clear, when he is assaulted he is not entitled to defend himself, or he is not entitled to be out in nightclubs? Or both?

Saying that the fact he is not the instigator is "besides the point" purely because he's a sportsman is, on its own, a crazy thing to say.

I was present when he king hit Roh Bail at Princes Park, so I don't think I'm in any position to question his account of his part in a 5 am nightclub brawl. Definitely deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Cmon, P-man. The sentence directly following the only one you bothered to quote provides the answer you're looking for.

Luke Thompson from the Crows would be worth some thought.

Yes,deeply underated and would fit our list very well.

He isn't the first to have white line fever and won't be the last, but that I can accept a bit more. I just don't buy into the off field villain image. There are two sides to every story.

I care about whether he'd make us a better side. The rest verges on being a non-issue. He'll be 25 next year. I'd be surprised if he hasn't learned from the incidents he's been involved in, and whichever club picks him up would be making absolutely clear what is and isn't expected of him.

Many footballers are out til the early hours during H&A. It's naive to think otherwise. They don't all seem to attract unwanted attention though, so Robbo becomes the villain again.

If he finds a new home, and for his sake I hope he does, I'll say again that I'd be surprised if he doesn't modify his going out habits under pretty strict instruction.

Yes, all day

Not being at the same club as Garlett isnt going to stop them being out on the [censored] together.

Id back Roos in to change any player in the AFL, being sacked and changing clubs will change most blokes anyway

Brings Hardness and unpredictability to our team, only knows one way, and we could use a bloke that isnt going to mind a few cheap acts

Roos so far has not change a number of players on the MFC list.

And changing clubs is not a sure fire winner to changing blokes....certainly not most blokes. There are some that do change and thats great, there are many that dont.

In a club with such a weak and immature culture that still finding its feet the last thing we need is a DH who does "cheap acts" either on or off the field.

Its ironic that a Club that has significant midfield issues and has been accused of being "soft" there in the last year has jettisoned Robinson......Hmmmm

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
