Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Funny, in another thread someone said that the Trengove trade was going to get us Dangerfield.

Think you are both right.

We had a go at Dangerfield as admitted by Mahoney and when unsuccessful, turned our attention to Lever, who is one of 4 under consideration for our picks 2 and 3.

I feel truly humbled to have been annointed your favourite poster and I don't take it lightly. I am thinking of having your post framed next to a picture of me.

As to what end on the misinformation, I have done my investigations on the number 1 pick scenarios and it just seems to me that first, the Saints would not have passed up picks 4 and 7 for 1, unless they wanted Petracca and second, that the AFL is a little peeved that we all think we know who the Saints will take and they are trying to spice up the event with some mystery and confusion.

Well I must admit it has spiced things up. I'd probably favour McC/Bray to Petracca/Bray but I've no real idea. I just like the idea of a KPP and a mid as we'll likely get a couple more mids next year with an early pick and Lovett.

Agree.

Would like to have picked up Oscar McDonald, especially if we miss McCartin.

My (uneducated) guess would be that St Kilda would take McCartin.

Why?

If they turned down the GWS trade then it's because there was a player in the top 3 that they wanted badly. The difference between Petracca and a pick 4 midfielder is probably quite small, but the difference between McCartin and the next best key forward (Wright, may not be top 10) is enormous. They would probably take the multi if they were interested in midfielders.

But maybe they see Petracca as a standout and this theory comes crashing down.

After just reading the AFL article quoting Richardson, I am now totally confused.

He says Petracca is the better player, but getting a McCartin in the future may be very expensive and why shouldn't they just take him now and get him to fall in love with the club.

I think I can safely say they will take one of them.

I said it in another thread but keep this in mind- when we got pick 3 for Frawley, talk about the Saints doing that trade ceased. IF Saints traded for 3 & 6 (instead of 4&7) draft would have been 1) GWS Petracca, 2) Melbourne Brayshaw, 3) StKilda McCartin and 6) Stkilda mid. When we took pick 3 the calculations changed to 2) Brayshaw and 3) mccartin. Saints all of a sudden were forced to either take McCartin with 1 or else he wouldn't slip past our pick 3.

With us only interested in Brayshaw with 2, pick 3 was open for them to take the KPF. Now it isn't and heir hand is forced. Stkilda will be taking McCartin with 1 or they'll have to settle for the next best, and seeing as their is no perceived equal, their is no one worth pick 4. McCartin is their man, thank you very much.

Hang on, didn't we get ND3 way a few days before GWS got ND7 from Carlton, and ND6 from WB?

Although, they may have tried to get that done because of their desire for Petracca...

Intriguing ideas but I don't think I will subscribe to your magazine...

Actually, the answer's on the cover of the Abbey Road album by the Beatles.

You just need to look close enough.

if you look closely at the cover of Sgt Peppers you will see Groucho Marx standing next to Jack Watts. Groucho is holding up a sign with an arrow pointing to Watts and the sign says " its all his fault"

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
