WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT

Featured Replies

Garland has played some very good football for the red and blue. He had a bad season this year coming back from injury and without a pre-season. I hope Frost proves to be a great pick-up but there is no way he gets a spot ahead of Garland round 1. And whilst Grimes probably hasn't reached the same heights as Garland he is our co-captain and there is no way Frost gets a spot ahead of him round 1 either.

Agree, Garland is a good afl footballer.

I actually posed the question around here, whether he was the best player at the club- after our rd 13 2013 loss to StKilda . He was A-grade material that night.

Isn't this a Garlett, not a Garland, thread?? :-)

There was just a snippet on Jeff on 7 news, in court about an assault from a few months back, didn't say much about it.

Return date March 20 is not ideal. I was hoping this was all sorted long before the season started so it was over with.

No tolerance for idiots who start fights. Especially drunken brawls it's just too dangerous.

But some times you get caught up in things.

I hope Jeffy learns his lesson regardless of how this goes and will use his quick little legs not his hands if he ever finds himself in a similar situation and more so he realizes nothing good comes of being out a 5am in King St.

If jeffy is out on bail, does that mean he can't travel to the Sunshine Coast for the pre season camp?

Unlikely it would be that strict. More likely he just needs to turn up at Court on the day.

If found guilty surely he won't be spending time in the clink, for a bit of a dust up, right?

No chance, and bail is highly likely set on own undertaking, as Redleg says, just to show up.

None of this will affect his freedom.

Happy to know that once a player joins MFC he automatically loses his DH status.

You haven't even posted 200 times and you think you're allowed to bag everyone out? Please.

Really? It matters how many posts you have, ffs.

When you act is if you know everything it does.

But that's besides the point, I don't remember anyone saying he was a [censored] for getting gangbashed by 4 blokes.

What a seriously weird individual you are.

Its irrelevant how many post member have as long as they support the dees and contribute in any way.

Pathetic mate

Surely it didn't take this for you to experience such an epiphany?

You bet!

Just like anybody who leaves MFC to go to another club gets their DH status automatically confirmed on their way out.

I'm pretty sure I posted that in a response to something on the welcome to the MFC Frost thread.

confirmed being the operative word !!

Is this a dick measuring forum or a place where ideas are treated on their merit (or lack thereof)?

Please. The best way to drive away new posters (and hence new ideas) is to play the 'shutup n00b' card. It's childish. Really, really childish.

Was it Marley Williams of Collingwood who was found guilty of serious assault - busted jaw - in Albany : the "standard sentence " in WA for that at that time was a jail term, I think I recall reading of around 6 months, but he walked.

The courts are not like the AFL MRP and Tribunal, so I just hope our new guy gets a fair hearing and a just penalty.

On the upside, only 15 more posts and you can start bagging people out.

Yeah fair enough, pretty pathetic on my part, shouldn't be bagging out posters for how many posts they've made. Sorry to anyone I pi ssed off.

But in other news, what number did Jeff wear at Carlton?

A number not high enough to be of any relevance.

Just [censored] with ya, 38.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
