We must only consider dealing with the dogs for an elite mid

Not going to deal for "Steak Knives"

Jake Stringer?

Bulldogs BF board ideas...

O'rourke to the dees
Pick 6 and cooney to GWS
pick 3 to the dogs

Maybe a trade in 2nd and 3rd rd picks may get this done

Bahahahaha!

They need to reduce their list, and pick 3 for Orourke, no thanks. At least our trade ideas are realistic

That Bulldogs forum sounds like some of the rubbish some Demonlanders proffer from time to time (read - regularly).

The Bulldogs supporters are delusional - theyre doing the same thing over on bigfooty.

Offering up depth players and pick 6 for pick 3.. they have no idea.

The only player of value that they would trade is Hrovat, who doesn't match Roos want for bigger bodied mids.

Stringer, Mcrae, Libba etc. are the future of their club, we wouldn't trade Tyson, Viney or Hogan for a 3 pick upgrade + 2nd rounder.

As others have said, it will likely be pick 3 for pick 6 and 26 if it happens. If they get a band 2 compo pick (end of 1st round) for Higgins we'd be asking for that (but it's likely to be band 3 - after 2nd round pick).

We would then on-trade or package the Higgins compo for an experienced player.

If they can figure out a way to get Greenwood from North and convince him to come to us or work it into a 3-way trade I'd do that. They can probably use either one (or both - though probably too much) of their second round picks to get Greenwood then on trade him to us with 6 for pick 2.

Yes please. Like the idea of Greenwood paying for us next year. Strong, solid mid.

But a decent KPF is also "the future of their club". And if they get one, they won't even notice having 5 potentially A-grade mids instead of 6.

Do they have anybody on that rung between Stringer/Macrae/Libba/Bont and Hrovat/Wallis?

Too late. They already have pick 26... assuming they don't pick up a FA.

How bout this:

Pick 27 (Western Bulldogs as per your scenario above) for Merrett & Pick 36 (Geelong, maybe even snag a Varcoe with it, he'd be an upgrade on Bail's role on the HFF imo) for Lumumba or vice versa - (note, pick numbers based on compo/extra picks for Melb, GWS, GC & Doggies). Or we could just go direct to Brissy with a Pick 2 for 5 swap for Merrett, with the higher pick for collingwood giving them Petracca or one of the 2 bigs leaving Brayshaw to us at 3 & pick 5 still to trade for a either a gun young mid or another Tyson style downgrade.

Would be awesome for us, but other clubs seem to be into him too & probably willing to offer a higher pick imo, even higher than our pick 23.

We already have Hogan, they don't. They will need to do something and will need to pay to fix it. I don't think they have the guts to do it.

Forget Hrovat, he's not of that value.

The Age article indicates the Pies and Dogs are into him - Richmond were enquiring but didn't really go any further. Both us and Footscray will have picks before Collingwoods second rounder.

Is Greenwood and North's Pick 15 a possibility for Pick 3?

Gives us Pick 2 - Brayshaw ? Petracca

Greenwood

Pick 15 (say Weller/De Goey)

(Maybe a swap of picks later in the piece)

North would do that in a heartbeat - I wouldn't.

I'm all for downgrading one of our earlier picks ala the Tyson deal, but 3 to 15 seems a large jump for mine.

greenwood is a gun. would probably do that.

Greenwood has had one good season, was nearly on the scrapheap a year ago. He's saved his career but is he really worth pick 3? I wouldn't have thought so.

Would havee thought Greenwoods value to be around early second rounder, recon 26 would do it?

Trade 3 for 6& 26, on trade to roos.

Although they'll prob ask for our early second rounder, hopefully we don't have to spend that one on the little Ironman :P

I dont really understand why the Dogs want to trade down anyway? Assuming Lions trade their pick 5 to the Pies for Beams the Dogs still get one of McCartin or Wright as you'd assume the Pies would use the pick on a mid with Moore in the bag.

Edit - actually I guess the risk is we trade the pick to someone else who is after a KPF.

I agree, we shoulda coulda got him then for nothing but we didn't, nor did any other club.

I'm just asking the question is Greenwood and 15 (and say maybe a swap of Norths 2nd for or our 3rd for instance) worth Pick 3?

I don't believe I said we should trade Greenwood for Pick 3.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
