Overrated players we must not entertain during trade week

Luke Breust - Fair dinkum, he never holds his feet in a contest. Throws his head back constantly. In an average side, this guy would be shown up big time. A+ grade set shot, but that is it. Has thrived on getting the 3rd or 4th best defender for years; and also thrived on quick perfect delivery.

Mitch Duncan - I hope we don't get him for Clark. Might as well let Clark go in the draft.

Mitch Duncan would be completely off limits by the cats. He would be close to our best player if he did come across. I would take him in a heart beat.

Hopefully we get something better than a Taylor Hunt who is apparently out of favor down there.

Also no interest in their injury prone ruckman Simpson/Vardy either.

Preferred trade would be with Collingwood. In my mind if we are to lose clark, why not fill a running half back role which is required with Lamumba.

Now that it seems that Jaksch, O'Rourke are both heading home and likely to command first round picks. Maybe we can work come magic with GWS to send Petracca to them and have one of their mids come too us with a shuffle of picks.

Troll

I heard Dafuq had an ok season playing for the Gympie B's. Not sure his fitness is up to AFL standard though.

Troll, well I'm shocked to see him disparaged like this. Somehow seems to get to every contest, has an immediate impact and draws multiple taggers. Might not be the prettiest player to watch, but he gets a job done.

I will add Josh Caddy to these B-graders.

Now what on earth inspired you to resurrect a 'two-year-old' thread for that advice?

G'day Rono.

Your thoughts on our list, if you will?

Who do you think we should avoid this year TGR?

I'm expecting the Tigers, Pies and Dockers to be looking to off-load a few.

Duncan, Bruest and Caddy will not be on the trade table so i don't understand the thread.

I didn't think we should have chased Melksham last year.

It was started two years ago.

GWS players, especially ones who can't break into the regular 22, that's where it's at.

We have a good trade relationship with them too.

Continue to build and improve our depth.

Is that because you were just listening to Sen discussing Tyson and Bruce etc..?

Who then?

No I wasn't actually.

I've said before, Tomlinson and Hoskin-Elliot would be two I would go after that we could get relatively cheaply.

I'd rather Marchbank to go along with HE, than Tomlinson.

Yeah like Marchbank too as far as trade targets go, just think Tomlinson is a better age for our current needs.

I think GWS would set the bar pretty high for both those guys. Tomlinson as a tall in particular would cost at least a decent 2nd rounder and WHE might be the same. They both seem to have a little more currency in my mind than Bugg last year.

Trading next years 2nd rounder could be an option for us. I'd rather keep this years as it could fall at a nice spot where someone we rate highly gets through to it.

Not sure Tomlinson would cost a second rounder, has played plenty of NEAFL this year. I was more thinking something like a future second rounder and maybe Garland for both Tomlinson and Hoskin-Elliot. Not sure how the points system works this year, but Mahoney might be able to wrangle another deal where we swap some picks to help GWS out fit in what they need to do as part of a deal.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
