Josh Mahoney on trade radio now, saying they are keen to go into the draft with picks #2 and #3 currently

could just be waving the juicy tidbits in front of savoring eyes also ^_^

So we're not going to get that gun midfielder then... A lot rests on the shoulders of Trengove and Toumpas, big year for those boys!

So it should be... they have a bit to prove in terms of being a part of the club going forward. I'd say the same thing about Watts, Grimes and Howe.

Still got a hunch that we will do something late with one of the picks.

Griffen to GWS

Patfull to GWS

Paying Scully and Ward a combined 2 million per year

Great to see another Sydney team with an unlimited salary cap

Look at their list when all is said and done...

Shaw, Patfull, Davis, Griffen, Shiel, Tomlinson, Treloar, Ward, Cameron, Boyd, Patton..... I know where I'd prefer to be!

Yeah but you have to move to Western Sydney . ,.

Mahoney and Co have played a great trade period so far in my opinion.

They targeted some big name players (Dangerfield) and were not successful and they would of known it was an up hill battle to pull off.

We add Garlett, Lumumba and Frost all able to play key roles next year and finally we have a bit of run and carry capability.

Brayshaw, Wright, McCartin all in the mix for our first two picks.

In good hands!

You would have to think if Griffen does get to GWS it involves pick 4 which should remove GWS ability to trade up to get Petracca. Come on dogs get the deal done.

Just what I was thinking.

Dogs also get the early pick to take one of McCartin or Wright.

We could seriously land Petracca and Brayshaw. If we do I hope they are the Hodge and Judd of this year's draft.

Sure we are, his name is Angus Brayshaw.

I am more than happy with the drafting so far, with still a week to go there is a chance we may still trade out pick 3, but Mahoney is also telling everyone we are happy to take these two picks to the draft so better give us a good deal or no deal. like it a lot, GWS trading is certainly making it harder for St Kilda to trade away pick 1 and still get the forward they desperately need

not sure I would be paying pick 4 for a player 29 years old next season.

GWS giving up pick 4 for Griffen is perfect. Any deal for Petracca falls through for the Saints now, so they go to the draft and have to choose between a KPF or another midfielder. The latter are a dime a dozen, hopefully they go with the KPF and we take the two best mids.

The fourth day of the eight days of official trading saw the first two trades done:-

First trade

Hawthorn lands the first official trade of the NAB Trade Period, landing GWS midfielder Jono O'Rourke. The Hawks gave up picks 19 + 40 to GWS in exchange for O'Rourke and 43.

Second trade

Carlton small forward Jeff Garlett has been traded to Melbourne. Garlett and pick 83 were given by the Blues in exchange for picks 61 and 79 from the Demons.

Ryan Griffen

Western Bulldogs captain Griffen walks out on the club, officially requesting a trade to GWS. The Bulldogs in crisis as their leader says he wants out of the club. They have released a statement this afternoon slamming the skipper for his move.

Joel Patfull

Patfull is set to become a GWS player in exchange for pick 21. Expect this deal to get done this week. Patfull still has a year left to run on his contract, but has told the Lions a move to Sydney was his preference.

Tim Membrey

Membrey will almost certainly join the Saints this NAB Trade Period. Coach Alan Richardson saying: "The Swans are keen to do the right thing by Tim. He's committed to us. It's incredibly likely."

I think you'll find players from the Pies and Dogs don't all live in Collingwood and Footscray.

Footy is like all other jobs (unless you're on a mining sight) you don't have to live where you work

I think our midfield will be vastly improved, with Lumumba having stints on the wing, and Garlett spending some time in the middle as well. Don't forget Stretch and Brayshaw, and an improved Toumpas Salem and Trengove with Viney and Tyson a year older with another preseason under their belts to compliment Jones and Vince.

Frost to add depth to our backs and McCartin another forward option augers well for 2015.

Wrong attitude to have, IMO. That's partly the reason we're in such a mess. I hope they play as many games as they can in 2015, but I want them to go about their business in the background. Particularly Toumpas. Our more experienced players need to take the brunt of pressure.

We're going to need a lot more than that. Those guys won't get us out of the bottom 4. We need some mature B+ mids and hopefully a Shiel, who is ready to take that next step. And of course, if Dangerfield were to come, then we're pushing up the ladder.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
