Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I would pass as well We need to start new and that shouldnt include Hacks like Harry

I wouldn't describe Harry as a Hack but I don't think he satisfies our main need off half back. We consistently shoot ourselves in the foot with poor disposal and decision making resulting in turnovers

Harry can find the footy, he can break lines but his disposal & decision making aren't great. Better than some we have currently but not great. His one on one defending is ordinary at best & he doesn't really do the mop-up across half back like Heath Shaw for example.

I'd be doubling our efforts to get Malceski. He is what we need. Failing that I'd be looking to prise Suckling away from the Hawks. Suckling has been described as a one trick pony but it's a trick we are desperately in need of - the ability to use the footy.

If Collingwood are so desperate to be shed of Harry O then I'd be saying ok, we'll take him off your hands but don't expect much for him. His value is limited - he's played 200 games & he's not likely to have many more seasons left in him. If you don't like it, find him another home.

Nor would I tie him to a deal involving Clark. Two very separate situations & transactions

It was thrown up on SEN as a WATTS for LUMUMBA trade... Interested to see peoples thoughts...

No and no.

If Lumumba wants out let him walk into the pre-season draft, nothing further should be offered.

He wanting to leave is a Collingwood problem, if we want him we should capitalize on their problem.

I must be watching a different game.

HL can not defend, is terrible one on one. He was good in 2010 when him and Maxwell just played loose third man up defenders and run off but once he has been found out as a defender that cant defend hes had to moved up to the wing. Teams just isolated him one out in the 50 and he was found out.

Hes not a great kick, just bombs it long and high.

Yes hell play 20 games at melb but I wouldnt want to be paying too much for him, trade wise.

Id pass.

He should slide in seamlessly then because we have a backline that don't particularly defend one on one that well, they do defend as a team quite well though.

As for just bombing it long and high, why is this any worse than missing a target who is 25 metres away instead hitting his opponent lace out.

He is an upgrade on the incumbents and for that reason should be heavily considered, which is what is happening.

Not really a ringing endorsement on him though is it- he will fit in cos were [censored] anyway is basically what you're saying. And saying he's an upgrade on our current running backs is nothing to put your hat on.

What about the negative impact he will have on locker room morale. He'd be the [censored] you'd just humour in a conversation and then discuss with your friends what an utter dick he is .

Where has it been said he would have a negative impact on locker room morale? We only know a fraction of what goes on behind closed doors, and if the bloke was a problem he would have been given the flick a long time ago. That excuse doesn't hold much weight to be honest.

Surely, the MFC are the kings of no bouncing. We must have the lowest number in the AFL for a few years.

At least this guy will run, carry, take-them-on, bounce, attract 3 opposition players, which will, if my maths is good, free up a few Melbourne players for over-lap footy.

I prefer Mitch Robinson though, as that manic contested ball freak that isn't one-paced. But granted, I know how HarryO will add to our stocks.

His over inflated ego and holier than thou attitude would have a big bearing on morale. He is "that guy"..

I've only ever heard respected people in football like former teammates Ball, Dawes and Maxwell speak in glowing terms about HL and his character. I'll take their word over media gossip and innuendo.

we are such a precious lot aren't we

we have one of the worst lists ever in the history of the afl

we have to turn over mega amount of players to improve the list

where do posters think we are going to get all these "stars" we crave/insist on setting up impossibly high requirements

lumumba will do me fine. he will improve the list immediately and so we move on with the slow process of rebuilding

Yeah it's an opinion. Someone's likeability level is subjective. I think he's a [censored], you might think he is very insightful and a god against men. Each to their own, I don't have to provide you with proof as to why I think he's a [censored], and vice versa for you. Gt over it

Don't care if you like him or not, it's your silly comment that he will be a major problem in the locker room that I was arguing, which you admitted was based on nothing but your precious opinion.

Those saying that none of our defenders can kick so he'll fit in or be an upgrade on what we already have, is that really what you will settle for?

I'd like to think we're all sick of limited players.

I watch every Collingwood game, usually with my best mate who is a Pies supporter, and I see the Lumumba frustration every week. This year particularly, he gets the ball, but what comes next is highly predictable. We all grew tired of Moloney's get ball boot ball style, this is no different, apart from the dash at the start.

This isn't like adding Cross and Vince, we had no midfield, they are pure midfield accumulators and were much needed.

We need half backs that can run, carry and most importantly hit a target consistently. Someone that sets up play off half back, not someone that simply offers relief for 25 seconds.

I saw the excitement in Paul Roos when discussing H on 360 so I'm resigned to the fact that its likely he's on his way here. I'm just putting it out there that I strongly believe this is not what our back line needs, and hopefully we do get what we need somewhere else, and Lumumba plays on the wing and bombs at goal from 50.

In Roos I trust, I 'spose.

That's fine, and in some ways I don't disagree.... but who are these players that our backline needs? Where are we going to get them from? I can't see someone like Malceski coming to us at this stage in his career and with the interest he will receive, and outside of that.... who is it? Lumumba, even with any shortcomings, is an instant upgrade for a few years and if we get him cheaply then he WILL make us a better side. At this point we can't really say no to that if the right deal for him is there.

Get it yourself, I just state my opinion I'm under no obligation to investigate stuff for you

Pfft what a [censored] weak excuse then. If your going to attack someone's personality and character then learn to back it up with proven facts.

If not then, pipe down.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
