afl.com.au is reporting the offer to Dangerfield from Geelong is 800k per season

Seems pretty low to be honest ... we might still be in the mix if we are offering a long contract at over a mil per year

Did he get a free kick from that 'incident?'

I noticed he did something similar on the weekend, was called play on, he ended up kicking a goal anyway.

Those incidents are why I really dislike the fellow. Can play, doesn't need that rubbish.

I'm pretty certain we were after Lever with the pick for Trenners. Roos has known him and the Lever family since he was a baby.

Huh?

Lever wasn't even drafted and on a list.

a series of quotes from sources yesterday:

1,000,000 - 1 shot

We're playing Hay List to Geelongs Black Caviar, but still a chance.

I've got more chance of being drafted.

Its difficult to not dream until it's a definitive no. But don't leave your nuts flapping in the wind waiting for good news.

If your nuts are flapping in the wind you should prob see a surgeon.

As HL wrote, we would've gotten him with pick 12 before Adelaide took him with pick 14.

Okay, gotchya.

Don't care what's in the media. Until the announcement is made, i still believe we're a shot!

There are essentially two elements to the Dangerfield comedy.

1: Is he leaving and preferred destination.

2: The path to facilitate 1

1 is a given

2 is a bit murky and path littered with impediments.

There is a defacto 3rd for mine. That being, depending upon the ease and speed of Paddy making his transition there might problems with other trades until it does...or stalls.

SEN just said that Adelaide may well match the offer to get a better trade result

why wouldnt they...Nothing to lose essentially

Caro said the same last night.

She added that Danger was determined to get to Geelong without them giving anything up. Ostensibly, because he wants them to be successful when he gets there so he doesn't want them to trade and give up their 1st round pick(s)/player.

She said that he might do a 'Luke Ball' (same Manager) and go into the PSD.

But Garry (God bless him) piped up and said he would never get past the teams below Geelong...paraphrasing here: Demons would throw the cheque book at him and work out later how to get him to love playing for the club.

That would put the 'cat' among the pigeons for the AFL...of course it won't get to that.

We may need more popcorn!

Caro may say that, but Motlop was part of discussions before he was convinced to stay.

The cats have been willing to give up such a significant piece, so they won't want to go backwards now.

I can't see him going anywhere except the Cats or stay at the Crows ( but stranger things have happened)

So, if the cats were willing to trade re Motlop has their position changed?

PSD is probably not an option as the price they can put at that stage will be limited and we (and others) may well match it.

It sounds like he has been sold on we are going to get new blood from the draft (+ a new selwood) and will be back in the top 4 quick smart.

If he ends up going to Geelong I really hope they struggle his whole time there. I liked them during the years they did well, but that was mainly because I liked players like Bartel and Enright. Now I can't stand the way they just want to pick players from other sides rather than build a side. Plus I hate the Scott brothers and their smug little faces!

Don't forget, Hay List never got to have a shot at Black Caviar when it was right at the top of it's form.

Had every chance.

Just asking...How is that not building a side. Is exactly what we're trying to do is it not..bring in talent. Planting seeds in the veggie patch and hoping/waiting can only ever provide so much

Adelaide have to match the offer.

Both parties would have spent a significant amount of time planning for this moment, including what gets leaked strategically (eg Dangerfield preparing to go into the draft). It’s going to be fun to watch, but I still expect Danger to get to Geelong & Adelaide to receive some measure of compensation. I’d be staggered if either side hadn’t explored all eventualities.

Agree we are trying to do that but it's just frustrating that every player wants to go to either Collingwood, Geelong or Hawks.

Absolutely HH. We appear to be desperate for Jake Melksham (Jake Melksham.... ffs) and Henderson and Dangerfield wander in to Deliverance Town for a song. Equalization appears to be an absolute ripper. And surely it's time for one of the major political parties to commit a couple of mill to another Kardinia Park upgrade, what with the 20 members from other clubs looking for somewhere to sit. It's been over 5 months now.

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore. Go Dees.

Pretty sure the Pies offered just over a million a year. An offer of 1.5 for five would have to be given consideration.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
