Mitch's smart @r$@ manager may have irretrievably damaged Mitch's image and ability to pull big dollars. I believe the MFC would have continued to honor its 4 year contract with mitch at the now insane $750k per year, that would have at least given him a chance next year to prove his value before contract renegotiations at the end of next year. Now he is a broken toy that walked away from us with a pocket full of $$'s in the hope that he could then walk into a new contract with a better club. Unfortunately for him, few clubs will want him and I suspect none would be willing to pay him the sort of money that he would have gotten at MFC.

Any spot on the melbourne list would presumably have a performance incentive in there, i.e. he plays and plays well he gets more $$'s. It will be interesting to see where he ends up, also if his manager gets his contract renewed also.

Before he pulled the plug in March he had again broken down again admittedly with another hamstring injury.

There is IMO a good chance his body is not up to AFL pressure.

True, but we can expect more of that for a few years until we all get used to FA. After that, when all questions of loyalty have become irrelevant, posters won't be upset but will just expect players to do the dirty on the club. Sad really.

People need to stop saying that he 'fills a need' for certain clubs, and that we should receive a quality player in return.

Through personal connections with Mitch, I know for a fact that his doctors informed him (after his ill-fated comeback attempt in 2013) that there was less than a 30% chance of him making a comeback - effectively citing that less than three out of every ten people who suffer lisfranc injuries regain full functional capacity.

Couple his unproven physical health with his well-documented mental health issues (trust me, they are legitimate), and you have a player that, despite his very obvious talent, holds minimal trade value. AT BEST I see us bringing in an early third-rounder from a team crying out for a forward (I.e. Doggies). Even then, they would likely only be receiving a player that makes them look better on paper.

I don't see his career getting back off the canvas if he tries to come back. As much as I liked Mitch as a person (have fallen out of contact recently), I hope it's another club that gets sucked into believing otherwise.

If that's the case, he's done us a favour, even though he's seemingly 'screwed us over'.

Probably not, just spitballing, we wouldn't get a star but I think the potential upside of Mitch did get right gives him some value

this bloke is potentially a lot better than most are suggesting, he never had mental illness so no issue there. being a little upset over having a sore foot doesn't count, but the sore foot itself is a genuine concern, so it comes down to the price he puts on his head. i think he'll be looked at for around 300k/400k depending on length, what band does that give us in return?

Fremantle parted with Pick 55 to get Gumbleton. Even with history of mental illness you can't tell me clubs won't pay more for Clark.
