Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

I essentially agree with you. Ive known this dark cloud also. Nothing youd ever want to wish upon another and as such there are various paths to it . Few out.

He may well have endured some misery etc and may well have become depressed ( what Demon hasnt ) but a lot of this looks like it ran to a script. I might not have. In a way it ,to me , doesnt matter as that doesnt go to how an honourable person would act.

Theres a lot that isnt right about all of this.

I think depression is entirely relative. There are no specific circumstances which can attract it. I've had a friend who was legitimately depressed for a reason which I would generally think is no big deal...So I'm not going to say that he faked it...But I do reckon that he had a change in mind about Melbourne once he started recovering. I think he wants to completely detach from the past, so leaving Melbourne to go home to Perth, in my opinion is completely reasonable. However, if he went to another Melbourne club, it would raise suspicions that he is just in it for the money...making him justifiably...a total C U N T

Not sure if his body will hold up, let alone his mind.

He's injury prone and the Lions were excited to say sayonara.

I'll miss him, but Tommy Mac will stitch him up.

be worth the 2 weeks to stomp his foot and whack his back

theres still somewhere deep down that hopes its all a load of cobblers but its really only about an .01% thing

As they say youre either with us ...or agin us...and if youre agin us ...then.............XXXX you !!!

Really couldn't care less what happens to Mitch Clark.

Risky proposition throwing money at him to land him in the first place.

Then plays 15 games for us.............15!

Sure.........he showed some quality for us when he got on the park, but hardly a 200+ game club legend to get upset about.

Pick 12 we would have butchered in 2011 anyway, so no loss there..........key is getting the best possible pick if he plays on elsewhere..........then make that pick count.

Who wants a player who doesn't want to be there anyway.

Like Frawley, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem, so p15s off!!!

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-09-07/dees-want-say-in-clarks-plans-for-2015

Quote

Although the terms of his release remain confidential, there are a number of scenarios under the draft rules that could be played out if Clark commits to seeking a place on an AFL list in 2015:
If Clark decided on a 2015 comeback before October 31, Melbourne could theoretically enter negotiations to re-contract him. However, it is understood that Clark is unlikely to seek this option.
Melbourne could trade him to another club before the trade deadline ends on October 16, if an arrangement suitable to both parties was found.
Alternatively, Melbourne could delist him by the deadline of October 31.
If Melbourne delists Clark, his options would then depend on the terms of his release that were negotiated in April:
If Clark had officially retired as part of his release from Melbourne, he must make his way to another club via either the draft or pre-season draft.
If he did not retire then he could become a delisted free agent and be picked up by a club of his choice.
What happens if you don't like any of these options? Because the way its playing out thus far he has no interest in negotiating with the MFC or there would be no need to go to the media.

I don't think this is necessarily correct.

If a player is not de-listed by the club voluntarily, i.e. the club wants to contract them but they refuse, and they're not eligible to for free agency, then have to enter the draft in order to go to another club. So Mitch won't ever be a de-listed free agent.

The interesting thing with Mitch is, if he technically retired, and the Mal Michael clause is in his contract, he won't be allowed to enter the draft like Michael did, as he'd be in breach of contract.

So if we made the deal properly earlier in the year, the ONLY way he can get to another club is through a trade. He could only enter the draft if we consent to it, which I doubt we would.

Just add him to the 'trauma list' that is the life of a MFC supporter.

Hopefully, we'll trade hard.

I just said that he had upset a lot of people with the news leaked by his manager and that demons fans felt let down. He then fired back at another poster who said much the same with "don't comment on stuff you know nothing about". Then I said that it would be nice for him to deny the reports of Ralph then and maybe he could make a statement. After that he deleted and blocked me. Pathetic, you can read the thread if u go to his Instagram, look at his most recent photo

I asked him a few questions on Instagram and then he blocked me, what a liar and a [censored] bloke this bloke turned out to be

I really had to laugh at this. "As an Instagram follower I am entitle to have my questions answered!"

I'm sure you weren't bagaring but that comment was just so funny.

When he retired he was very much into his photography, I just think that things have changed but sadly the impression is that they no longer involve the Melbourne Football Club.

Yeah, it's easier to prance about taking pics of your missus when ya got some fool supplementing your income to the tune of 700k a year.

surely if he signed an arrangement with mfc based on his retirement and he decides not to retire he voids the arrangement whatever it was

this means it reverts to the original contract which runs to 2015

this then gives us two options - trade or keep on list

if he stays on list he has to fulfil obligations like training, be available for selection etc. if not then no payments

keeping him on list also may not be as expensive as you think as he had a massive front loaded contract

on a similar note when mal michaels "unretired" himself and switched clubs it was reported the afl changed the rules to prevent/penalise such activities

does anyone know what these changes were?

one wonders where the afl sits on this. will probably make it up on the run anyway

I'm wishing Melbourne had put a non-compete clause into his retirement agreement. Hindsights 20/20 though and I think we felt in good faith if he was to return it would be with us.

Look I don't think there is any appropriate forum to have a go at people, but social media is probably the least.

Everyone here takes media with a grain of salt, but as soon as something that supposes a negative action it must be true. If he wants to play football good on the guy, and here is hoping that he is definitely keeping the MFC in future plans

Surely the club can seek legal advice to get monies refunded?

Somehow i don't think sales of the photos of the Blonde will cover it,

Do people really think harassing him via social media is a great idea? It's been 10 hours and people here have wound themselves into a state of paranoia.

Just like Frawley, lots of people savaging him before a comment/decision has been made.

Calm down, wait for an announcement from his camp. As many rational people on here have already said, there has been no quote from his manager saying it won't be at MFC.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
