Thanks OD...I will be here till well after the season finishes I did in fact go to the soccer and Amsterdam won...so at least I have a home town team I can follow!

Ajax?

Yup...they won 4-1. Just as I was looking for my seat they scored and this random starts hugging me!!

The other side of that coin is that when you cut your losses you can turn the dollar you have into 30 cents.

Martin for Pick 53 was not value. And we should have left that on the table.

Watts would be more valuable on the list than in a trade I am afraid to say.

Well that says it all really! So we keep him playing like a schoolboy and then let him whither under the pressure of expectation get worse and worse and wreck a career.

No cut him away and it will be good for him and the club. He is completely cooked at the Dees I'm afraid to say

No doubt she was commiserating with them but, at the same time, commending them on their effort.

maybe she was telling them "not to worry pets all will be ok we still love you"

The two games I've missed due to being on an aeroplane are "186" and this game just gone.

I'm catching a ferry next time.

why...seems to be working well for you :)

I am so furious and embarrassed by that performance that I have not been able to face demonland til now. I spoke with Simon Meredith this morning who is my IT man. Simon was umpiring his first game after nearly dying a couple of months ago. Its very rare for him to umpire a bottom of the table clash, but the AFL decided to give him a warm up game with us on the weekend. It was the first time he had umpired us since 2006. He said in all his years umpiring he had never seen anything like Melbourne's performance. He realised something was seriously wrong early in the game as no Melbourne players were complaining about Giant free kicks. He had never seen this before. Further he said there was little talk between the Melbourne players and no on field leadership. Jonesy and the other senior players needed to do more.

Just passing on his comments.

It was an odd game wasn't it. Hope we're not tanking

There is no need for this team to tank Mon there best efforts get the same result.

We weren't the team that blooded two kids and sent players off for surgeries in the weeks leading up to it.

Don't know why you would even think that we were tanking?

There is no heart in this team. No leaders that can drag other players with them. Jonesey for all his heart can't do it. Grimes cant do it. Dawes, Vince and Cross can't do it.

There is no one there directing traffic (although watts does a good job at finger pointing!) setting up zones, screaming at players where to run, who to pick up.

Its a malaise. And when you get blokes like Kent burning a lead to selfishly kick at goal (only to hit the post) it reinformces the non-team ethic we have,

Roos is not telling them to play like this so the only thing to do is F&**() off the players that refuse to do what we need.

Unfortunately we only get a chance to delist 1/3 of our team each year and for us its not enough. We need to delist or trade at least 15. Thats where we need assistance.

I think what we saw on the weekend was very symptomatic of a bunch of whom there are more than a few question marks and more than a few self realisations they are for the furnace. Some have given up....on themselves. Some are no doubt tired of the journey so far and its taking a toll. Some are fresh to this particular grind and still have it in them to fight.

Some had there minds elsewhere for sure. probably only half turned up to actually give 100% on the day. Not because it was any actual decision to just because thats where theyre at.

I saw some hurt out there. I later saw an image of Gawn, wish i could find it....He was gutted, borderline crying.Just empty. Not everyone quite seemed this way. Some just seemed detached, some even looked half glad the pain was over.

Max looked angry, not nearly enough were angry. Well , not on that side of the fence !!

I have only just seen a score....Internet not good in southern Philippines.

1 Goal after 1/4 time...on our MCG.

That is disgusting....and as far as i am concerned at least 20 players should just pack up there bags & Leave.

Do not come back

I am tired of players and past administrators crapping on my club whilst paying themselves a top wage.

So F@#%$k off now...

3 goals against a half strength GW$ at the G

And some people are still saying we have improved on 2012-13...No we have not..any improvement gained this season has been completely wiped.

China Southern must be so proud as must Schwaby for his stellar list management...

You were lucky you just saw the scores. As hard it is to believe, the abomination that was our performance was much worse than the scores indicate.

I don't think our team has complained about a free kick since 2006, mainly because they don't care.

I can imagine how bad it was....That is why i do not want half this list to EVER wear the jumper again...

Look i have been worried about this list since 2008....ever since Bailey said "It is all about getting games into them"...i didn't agree...The Good sides of the 70's and 80's got 50-100 reserve games into a player before they got a sniff..

The MFC gifted games & chose the wrong players....They also chose the wrong captains...& that includes Jonesy....I love him but he is a blue collar worker....not a leader of men.

Funny you should say that....I heard that the coaches want Jonesy to impose himself more on the young 'uns at training.

He's so single minded in his own approach/training, he doesn't know how to bring the others onboard.

That's what i mean....Jonesy is a pure worker...and to do that he must concentrate on his own game...

I am not knocking him at all....By having Jones Captain we are not getting the best out of him

I would guess that this single-mindedness is what allowed him to flourish in an environment where all his contemporaries were failing.

I didn't know there was a cap on changes you could make to a list.

It's a cap of better judgement.

If we removed 15 players we would be trading just to move people (like we did with Martin), bringing in good VFL players, and bringing in such teenage speculation onto the list as to make the whole exercise worthless.

Added to that is the fact that any 'new' player (first year in draft) gets an automatic 2 year deal and you are hamstringing yourself the next year.

RFPC has answered it but it is more a practical consideration. You can do it. But it would be extremely disruptive and a case of diminishing returns you would think.

Oh and clubs manage it so that roughly 1/3 of the list come out of contract every year.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
