North just signed Jarrad Waite. It seems like only yesterday I was behind the goals at Princes Park at the beginning of his career watching him miss what would have been the game-winning goal against us.

The day after his premiership-winning father had died unexpectedly? And also the day when an uber-enthusiastic Brad Miller laid a tackle on one of his team-mates?

That's the one! I thought I'd omit that detail. I actually cringed at the time when he missed that goal for that reason.

Dogs have declined to match the absurd Higgins offer and will have pick 26 as compensation, provided they don't sign any free agents.

Are any clubs whinging that the pick is too high compensation for a spud like Higgins who has hardly played any good footy for about three years?
