The difference he was making on-field couldn't be much clearer now we've had to watch our team without him. He's probably one of our 3 most valuable players on-field, from both his leadership and hardness in matches.

Best news in an otherwise dismal week of footy! A shining diesel light, in a at times Gomez Adams train wreck!

A verrry greatly admired footballer and person If I were dees I'd give him another season 2016 and keep him as a development coach mentor!

One to keep!

Great news. Good on ya, Crossy. Come back soon. We miss your hardness and ball winning ability around the stoppages.

He spoke at our function today as did Jayden hunt. Crossy hopes to be back for lions game, hunt wrapped to be at the club & is battling stress fractures as he grew so quickly & they are being ultra conservative with him. Russell Robertson also popped in & implored everyone to keep the faith, the club is where they want it of field & they are confident of turning it around on field. So I guess we give them a big preseason....let's the recruiting guys work their magic & roll on 2015

Cross is a huge loss at the moment. Well worth another year.

Massive. Has been our most important player when he played. The news of the break equalled "a tough month ahead" in my book.

Might have got Steve Johnson today, had he played.

Top bloke on and off the field. Good news at the end of an average day.

Just look at how much we have missed him since his injury. This bloke is a genuine contributor - stands out among the passengers!

If we could have picked any block of 4 games you wouldn't want Cross to miss it was the Dogs, Dockers, Cats, Power stretch. That along with Tyson appearing to tire second half of year has seriously affected our form.

Little confused. He originally signed for 2 years IIRC, he's been good this year but at +30, I don't know if we needed to extend his contract 18 months before it ends. People won't be knocking the door down for him..

I'm glad he's around next year for sure, but not sure he's best 22 Round 22 next year let alone the year after.

So sensible this post,he aint going anywhere and one season at a time is enough.

There has been a big fat line drawn under our lack of onfield leadership with the loss of Cross over the last couple of weeks. It is obvious to me that this bloke is critical for the development of the team and for Roos to execute his plans. the quicker we get him back the better.

Fantastic news he is going around again. Hopefully Mission can keep his body right for another year after that as well.

Absolutely but they are not that easy to find. Neeld tried the same thing with Dawes, Rodan, Byrnes but only Dawes has provided much on field. I think Cross is one out the box, becuase of the unique situation the doggies were in with too many old stars and the need to bring youngsters in. At the end of the day we need to dvelop out own and that will just take time becuase we have just gone through 5 years of compromised drafts and the only thing players have learnt from the last 5 years is how to loose.

Yes we do; need a development system for home grown players but like anything you often build a protective ( supportive ) scaffold of sorts to allow this to happen and grow.

Our team as a whole has dropped off since Crossy has been out.. Shows the importance of leaders.

And our severe lack of them

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
