Totally agree that Watts appears to hate the contest, but it would be a mistake to trade him. It will reach an inflection point one day when Watts suddenly realises that at least half of the people around him are younger and smaller, and all of a sudden he starts enjoying the contact more. It can be quite an eyeopener when you suddenly spot a kid running on to the field for the opposition who once looked up to you as a senior in school when he was just a yr 7 pup.

It has disappointingly taken him ages to develop, but he will and I would hate to see that happen at another club.

M Jones is a trier, but limited. Bail is similar. Terlich is Terlich. From the team on Saturday, I would be uneasy if I was those three. It's fair game for the bulk plying at Casey.

Disagree. It's a mindset thing, t and being bigger than everyone else has a habit of changing that.

Besides, while he doesn't run in hard at the contest there are a thousand other players from a range of other clubs who are similar - effect a tackle, but don't dominate it (don't tell me Watts doesn't tackle at all, he clearly does). Most of those players don't hold a candle to the skills that Watts possesses.

If you've decided how many players you want to turnover, then I think it's better to have a discussion about who to delist or trade after a win rather than a loss. Then you eliminate a lot of the emotion but know that you still have to find x number of players to move on. It makes the seemingly easier decisions harder which is the rigour one should have with such a process.

Thats right,and the bloke now in charge is a stickler for following rules to win games.

He will delist /trade blokes who cant achieve that.

He will also take into account the players who are still learning this new game plan and will be better prepared for it next year after starting to mentally fatigued now ,and having less onboard team mates.

He also will only recruit players who can achieve the standard he wants.

I am sorry to say this - but this list will not be fixed this October. It will take 3 years. Bail being delisted for Pick 105 is not 'making the list better' it is in fact - doing the opposite. I am using Bail as an example here but the notion 'anyone would be better than...' is the stupidest reason to get rid of someone.

At the end of 2007 and in the next couple of years we got rid of pros and replaced them with kids because 'that's how you rebuild' - well we now know that is BS. You make the list better by bringing in talent and making sure you space out the deletion of those that won't make it strategically so that you can maximise the amount of high end talent you bring in over these 3 years.

Don't think I was saying much different to that rpfc if you remember we were agreeing on dicussions on who was going to carry the load while the kids developed back then.

He kept Bartel to 15 touches and 1 goal 1. He only had 8 touches himself and is still working back from a fair ot of time off but I would have thought that was a win for him on the day. I recon out defence stood up well yesterday. It was the same old story of the midfield getting spanked starving our forwards of quality ball and our defence on a hiding to nothing.

I dont think anyone in our defence will volunatrily be let go. They have done a good job all year as well as being plucked clean to fill vacancies in the forward line. The vast majority will go from the midfield. The backroom will be trawling the comp looking for developed class to fill mifdfield gaps as a priority. Delisted will be Blease, Strauss, Nicho and Tappy. There will be a whole bunch on the trade table as well but that could be anyone.

You are probably right with Bartel being a pass but I was thinking if you look at Garland's past 5 weeks he has been well below par.

I disagree with you! It certainly can be a mindset but Watts has never shown it. Look that can be OK with some players. Steven Stretch comes to mind. One of the first picked every week yet not physical.

Interestingly i have seen plenty of times when our players won't kick it to Watts who has run 30m on a lead. Its as thought they are saying 'stuff you I'm not giving you an easy ball'. there is somethig wrong and I suspect the club knows what it is.

For me I'd trade him.
