One of my all time favorite players even to this day.

How good is it to see this cheeky fella playing in the legends game. Hope he turns it on tonight.

I remember that 9 second half goals against Collingwood like yesterday. One of the best half I have ever seen from an individual AFL player!

Love ya Wiz!

Gawd it was a good time to be a Melbourne supporter (well, the older supporters knew better times but it was as good as I can remember). I can remember the next week as well that Wiz kicked 7 goals and we towelled Hawthorn up by 11 goals! Say that to a 15 year old kid now and they would laugh at you but in the day, we used to make the Pies and Hawks look like b***ches.

Wiz should never have returned to WA in 2002. Mad work by his management.

I think he has recently said how much he regretted going back to WA. I was shattered when he left.

He still has the silky skills too, still a joy to watch!

Will never forget that 9 goal half against Collingwood.

Awesome seeing Wiz, Davey & Robbo out on the field.

Those were the days....

Brad Miller is still in mint condition

I don't believe it was that great a career move by the Wiz but don't blame his management - they got him a lot of money and the story I heard was that he picked up a packet to sign on.

Did Melbourne try hard enough to keep him here? I don't think they did well out of the trade either.

If Farmer had stayed at the Dees we would have won a flag or atleast got into another Grand Final.

Played his best footy with us.

Freo snubbed him as soon as he retired. They dont even invite him to their functions at all.

Farmer was the most exciting player we've had in recent memory.

Here's a toughie - who was more exciting, Farmer or Jakovich?

Still better than Dan Nicholson haha rookie prospect?

The sixth best mark of all time, and yet Winny Abraham won mark of the year.

Was that the mark over Yze? (I think Winny said something about sharing the car or whatever the prize was, with Yze in return for the leg up).

ah, the spontaneity of un-synthesized footy. Huh, the fun it was. I bleed for its return.

He won goal of the year that year so I reckon they have it to Abraham because he couldn't get two cars! His goal was great but his mark was incredible.

I've never been more shatters to lose a player since the Wizard went to Freo and screwed up his career.

He had a very special on field relationship with Garry Lyon ( especially standing on his head to take that hanger)

His 1998 r22/finals series was exceptional but nothing will beat that 2000 season he had. He kicked I think 76 goals which for a small forward is unbelievable. His bags of 7 and 8 against Freo and WCE at Docklands were superb including one goal kicked off the ground from about 40 out near the boundary.

That was Ashley Sampi.

And don't forget the amazing 8 goals he kicked in the prelim final v's North Melbourne in 2000.

Who else has bagged 8 in a prelim in recent memory?

The Wiz Jeff Farmer was one of the most exciting players to have wirn the red and blue. Exciting fast amazing skills and that bit of cheeky mongrel.

It was a sad day when he went west.

Ah, The Wiz. My all time equal favourite player - shares that title with Robbie Flower, and with Sean Wight a close third.

"The" day against Collingwood was interesting. Dragged in the first half, then got a chance for redemption when Ben Beams broke his arm. The rest is history.

The first minute or two of the 1998 final against North had me believing. Wiz took a hanger, and I thought it was going to be our night. I knew if we could roll them we would take it out. I think that was probably the year that should've been for us, more than any, including 1987 and 2002.

Was inconsolable when he left - was like the bloke on that Hilux ad when the ute went over the cliff. To rub salt in, I think he kicked a winner against us at Freo one night, and celebrated in true Wizardry style. Still brought a smile to my face...bastard!

Jaded (post #5) - Miller needs to look that way, and maintain it for the next 35 years. Seen what he's married to lately?

The Wiz was just awesome to watch. From that collingwood game to the hanger he took against richmond and how good was he in the 98 finals series. That was so exciting. His games against the saints and crows were awesome. How good was it to go to the footy back then and watch our forward line of Lyon, Schwarz neitz and Wiz.

I was shattered when he left to go to WA.

I too have this dilemma running through my head as to who was the most exciting..

I think it just comes down to personal memory doesnt it...

For me it was Jaka...just.

But Gee WIZ...was The Wizard a super goal sneak..one of the best we've had.

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
