I like it, would finally be a link to Melbourne the city again. Plenty of potential for growing the supporter base by attracting interstate students who haven't watched a lot of footy and international students as well. The danger is all the Kim Duffys walking around, I guess.

Melbourne Uni has a good ground which is shared by Uni Blues and Blacks in the Amos.

Ground is ok but the facilities are not much improved from the seventies.

Would need a large amount of money spent and IMO would be no better than what we have at present.

One potential problem is that it is a cricket ground, meaning we couldn't use it preseason.

It could give us exposure to tens of thousands of new young people every year though, some who won't have a footy team of have even seen footy.

Has the planned new docklands site, near that ridiculously placed big wheel, gone off the boil?

Lots of isues to be resolved but none of those are not able to be solved and there is nothing wrong with the vision. Melbourne should be the city club and linking it to icons like the Uni is a good plan. Its about time the club had a single administration, training and hopefully social facility in the city. Linking the club to the capabilities and potential of the Uni is great idea and could get us access to cutting edge science and technology. The cost of development could be offset by access to those facilities and technologies and also through access to Government money.

My preference would be for something near the G but after squibbing on the Lexus centre and leaving the door ajar for Coolingwood to walk through I think that horse has bolted.

I don't mind the sound of this. We could then potentially have the Melbourne Uni Blues as our 2nd's team in the VFL and still keep an association with Casey by using it as a sumemr base while the cricket ground is in use at the university, allowing us to have a presence in Casey still, whiel still finally establishing ourselves in the city!

I like any idea that ties the club closer with the city itself.

It's truly astonishing that MELBOURNE Football Club has ZERO presence in the CBD.

How is Parkville the CBD ? just curious

A presence in the CBD can be accomplished without moving to the other side of it

Great idea. Central, easy and attractive to visit. Huge exposure to a youth market, and a potentially valuable link to research/science educational facilities. The main benefit is exposure like no other club would have.

Being devils advocate here how it that central. ??

Nearest PT is TRAM...as opposed Richmond Station.

I can see the so called pluses but some of the supposed foundation of this move makes no sense, given the premise of greater connect to the CBD etc.

Whatever benefits a tie in to Melb Uni might offer could surely still be accessed where-ever you may be, after all is that exactly what students and other businesses do ?

I think the main problem is space. We should have taken the Lexus Centre when we had the chance. We should have been the first one banging the State governements door down as the sporting precinct was being developed but we may have missed that boat. I cant see anywhere around the G where we can centralise the whole club, admin and FD in one place, The FD share with the Storm, the Rebels and the Victory with no room forn anything else. We need a centralised Club with state of the art facilities including a training ground and if possible a social club that is in or near the CBD. I agree Melb UNi is not the CBD but short of other options it may be the best one.

Kim Duffys as in the Chinese international students getting around whose parents are forcing them to do a degree they aren't interested in or the eastern suburbs private school girls? Kim Duffy was a scrubber from Frankston was she not?

I mustn't have been over to the part of the campus yet where the footy ground is. I might stop here before I get on another silvertail rant but this might be an alright idea on the logistics of things. Watch this space!

Junction Oval would be much better. Not tooth by jowl with Carlton.Melbourne University is in Parkville.

If only someone could broker a deal with Cricket Victoria to get things rolling.

I just see this as yet more flailing around in desperate search of a clear direction.

There has now been talk of about four different new 'home' bases in the last 18 months. At some point they need to make a decision and stick with it.

At this moment in time we look as indecisive and confused as the Saints.

Would have thought that AAMI Park is closer to CBD than Parkville, Cudi.

Any move must include:

- A1 facilities much better than AAMI Park/Gosches Paddock.

- makes very good financial sense.

- 12 mth access for preseason with potential for exclusive use.

- be near the MCG, because we are part of the MCC.

The push to have a home in the CBD seems more based upon romance than anything else IMO. Where is any form of modelling or research that says it would be such a great idea (apart from G Bartlett proposing a Collins St address)? Whorethorne, Collingwood, St Kilda and Essendon have either moved from their suburbs or are in the process of moving. Look what happened to the last VFL/AFL team that was based at Melbourne Uni....

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
