Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Have never dropped my love for Nev since I saw him fight everyone in the under 18's.

There was all this talk of a flashy midfielder but he never looked it and I am happy Roos has actually used him the way he should always have been used, as a tough, fearless shut down player.

The beauty of his development is that he now has the skills to be at this current level.

His tough play got him here, coupling that with his enhanced skill is what will keep him here.

No I am implying I am on the bandwagon, most of the posters on here were glad to see Nev gone at the end of last season, not me

I don't think there'd be one supporter that isn't glad he's made it though.

If everyone had his attitude and physicality...

I have to admit for me he was seriously underwhelming until this year. He has been sensational. A big tackling presence for us.

One of Roos' big improvers, and on the evidence of his game against the druggies Jordie Mac might be about to join him, but I don't want to hijack this thread...all hail the Jet.

Isn't it fascinating to see a Roos plan come to fruition so quickly.

Step one - do nothing more than shut down your opponent - check

Step two - because you can jump, If you think you need to go up and spoil a contest - then do it - check

Step three - now your confidence is up - if we get the ball, provide an option and become offensive - check

I reckon Roos would be absolutely loving him. Brilliant shut down player who's become one of the most crucial members of our back line.

Great footy story too given how close he was to end game last year. Thankfully Roos has a penchant for spotting untapped potential.

Nev Jetta's last six games for Casey last year, he was in the best six for each game and BOG for one, Jade Rawlings went into bat for him to be retained as a Rookie, he then had a full pre season, played his first few games at Casey in his preferred position in defence and earned his spot in the AFL side in his preferrred position, it is his to lose

A small that aint overly quick, nor does he have an Elliot-type leap, yet he is firmly in our top 22. Credit to him and Roos and Co. I wrote him off years ago.

He also is willing to peel-off and go up to spoil a big marking contest, turning a 1-on-1 to a 1-on-2.

Love to see his bravery in being in front of packs made up of much bigger players and possibly Howe jumping over - and worried for the same reason. I hadn't realised how good-over head he is.

I feared he was just a bit too slow and didn't quite know where to go.

Always loved his attitude but didn't think he would make it.

On the other hand, I felt Bennell would make it as a permanent player because of his ability. (I just didnt think it would be with the Eagles)

Did anyone see him at the practice match down at Princes' Park a few years back? Tackled like a maniac and caused some concern he might destroy a Blue or two. Showed a lot of promise that he was just unable to fully put together till now.

Happy he's doing so well, loved him but thought it must have deluded a positive opinion of him. Great work Nev, sign him up now.

I think we really missed Clint Bartram last year and whilst terlich and clisby were able to find the footy, they often got caught out by their opponents.
This year terlich has been much better defensively, but not surprisingly his offensive output has been down, but i still thought he was going okay.

Nev has always had the hardness and mental attitude, just been cruelled by injuries and admittedly i thought he would never be able to get onto the track, that said i am stoked he is and is playing his role consistently well. i think he has shed a few kilos and looks to be moving alot better than ever before.

My favourite thing he does is feed the handball and then look for contact on the sheppherd allowing team mates to have that extra time to dispose of the football!

What I'm loving is seeing kids who have worked so hard get their chance and succeed. Like most I liked Jetta but I didn't see him becoming the player he is. He's now 24 and looks like becoming a permanent member of the team - and a good one.

He was the same draft as Jamie Bennell. Both are having break out years. It highlights the necessity to develop players correctly. In poor teams so many young kids are thrown to the wolves ahead of time because of the need of the club and the expectation for success. When they fail early many are discarded. Whilst you have to think that Tapscott, Blease and Strauss are on thin ice it's worth remembering that they are where Jets was last year.

It's interesting also how in a professional elite environment with top people like Roos how it's the hard workers like Jetta, Bail and Pedersen that are succeeding ahead of more highly fancied skillful players like the Blease's of this world.

Jordie McKenzie is the next on the list to join this group I reckon. He was exceptional on the weekend.

Anyway that's a bit of a ramble but in summary well done Jets, loving your work and thrilled you're getting a return for your dedication to your career.

stoked for him. he's worked out what sort of player he wants to be.
there was a couple of great games last year before he got suspended, where he looked like had some genuine defensive game.
good on you nev.
looks like we could potentially have the best jetta

I certainly had Jetta in my best player list yesterday. His improvement this year has been very pleasing: at last a really good small and tough defender.

Pity the Hun and the Age didn't have him in their best Melbourne players, but then their journalists always watch a different game!

Two major areas of improvement.

He now keeps his feet and as a result he is winning more than his share of one-on-ones against really dangerous opponents.

He also gets more involved than previously (maturity) and as a result is providing rebound which is great because his kicking skills have always been precise - just previously rarely seen.

The outcome of these two improvements is that he's now the real deal as a defender in the Matty Whelan style.

Sometimes rookie-listing players can have the desired effect in terms of hunger.

But the switch to defence is obviously the biggest factor.

We've had a great year for reincarnations:

Christian Salem is Adem Yze.

JKH is the Wiz.

Howey the defender is Clint Bizzell.

Cam Pedersen is Spud Dullard before he did his knees.

The Russian is also back to being the Russian.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
