Northern Blues v Casey Scorpions

Recommended Posts

If we leave Casey, I'd like us to have something down Pakenham way.

I notice that a lot of Gippy Power kids and Gippsland kids (Best, Blaser) have all decided on Casey in the past.

Casey is the closest to Gippsland, but Pakenham would be closer still.

Gippsland area is untapped, I'd like us to tap into it - with a long term view.

Country Vic is there for the pickings, Hawthorn used to have it when they were at Waverly.

But for the past 15 years it has been neglected.

Ablett's were all from country Vic, that is why they went to Hawthorn.

MFC need to establish themselves as the presence in Gippsland and beyond.

Pakenham council have been pumping money into the sporting complex down there as well, has been 1 million plus put into the footy/cricket facilities at the ground on the Highway.

Players cry about going to Casey, may have psychological breakdowns if they had to go to Pakky.

Also the grounds at Pakenham and Dandenong both have cricket pitches on them which would be a problem.

Tappy kicks one from the pocket and they lead by 26 points and it's half time.

Casey Scorpions 8.5.53 to Northern Blues 4.3.27

Goals Smith 5 Michie Rosier Tapscott

good to hear, Tappy needs to start making some inroads into form. the new non-negotiables should help tappy's game, as long as he can work hard enough with his build.

Just entering the Casey debate, I understand that they are a bit financially struck at the moment. If it got dire for them I reckon Melbourne should look at merging with them, becoming the Casey Demons. Keep as much of the Casey history as possible and still have ties to the community but give us more control over the on-field style, methods, and squad. The added bonus of that is that there wouldn't be as much start up costs and we might even be able to share the costs with the council as I would think they'd want to maintain a local VFL club at that precinct.

Siren goes for three quarter time as Strauss goes down with an ankle. Doesn't look good and the Scorps are likely to go into the final term with only one or two fit players on the bench. Wood dominating the ruck for the Blues.

Has Strauss ever had an injury free year?

they Must keep a team, or 2, at the 'Fields'.

Imperative now the infrastructure is there, but the current arrangement is killing off the Scorps, & their supporters.

It won't work, the current arrangement as we keep pulling the players come mid August. the Scorps want Finals, & we have not wanted Finals.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
