We are a chance. My biggest challenge is staying awake for the second half.

I maintain what I was saying in the first quarter, we are playing ok. They are also going hard enough to suggest they give a s$, but I would say with the change in conditions we swap Chip back to defence and Howe back to forward, pull the trigger on JKH mid way through the 3rd quarter subbing either Howe or Fitzy out, whoever stays must bring the ball to ground. Chip I the forward line hasn't been horrible but he still plays like a defender with his positioning, and he should've squared the ball up rather than go himself but it's good to see someone backing themselves.

We are in this.

Agreed on JHK for Fitzy. Should start the 3rd IMO. Frawley another 10 minutes up forward. If no effect i would swap him for McDonald lol

We want commitment desperation and good disposal

Commitment and desperation - that's what we want.

the rest would follow, though not necessarily today.

who wins is who is desperate and committed. Only thing to be commenting on, I reckon.

Sorry, didn't realise you were also the 'who you can have on your favourite player list' squad as well. Former players don't count eh? Childish response.

Anyone who lists that lazy spud in their favourite players is clearly clueless with regards to football and as such has no right to say others have no idea

I was "watching" this game then re focused and wiped the drool from my chin.

I've got nothing better to do right now so I'll watch the second half and switch to the storm game during, but FFS if this doesn't pick up I'll give up.

McDonald is doing well on Cameron (so far). I'd sub Georgiou, if GWS presumably sub Patton or Giles we can then throw a midfielder back and bring on JKH.

Fitzy might not be doing much but the game time is good for him and he's had a shot on goal and Frawley should've dished him another one.

Anyone give us a sniff?

Yeah if we can find a way to clean it up inside 50.....Frawley back and Howe, JKH forward maybe....its only a goal diff....Dunn to chip in for a couple?

Thanks, Dad. Thank goodness you are here telling us what to do.

How many Melbourne players from the last 10 years are flawless, such that there are no grounds to make fun of someone for naming them as their favourite?

Nathan Jones? David Neitz? I mean, there aren't many choices.

Let's leave people alone for having their favourites and debate real issues.

We might actually win. It's only 8 points and for various parts of the game we've been the better side.

As will be the case until we get some KPFs back, I just can't see us kicking a winning score.

We need as much run as we can get; Spencer, Fitzpatrick or Georgiou have to be the sub.

I'd keep Chip and Howe where they are if we can - they are doing a pretty good job and they aren't the problem. If we can win more clearances and work our arses off to get the ball forward then we can win this.

A winning score today might only take 6 or 7 goals.

Remember, they've only got 2 goals so far.

Oh dear.

Watts is loose in defence. 5 man forward line.

How does taking someone out of the forward line make it easier to score goals?

Third consecutive senior coach who thinks that a loose man back is a good idea. It never works for us.

Sorry, but deadbeats who say people have no idea for making legitimate criticism are contributing to real debate how?

I can't agree on Fitzy. He's not even close to AFL level atm. Mind you i dont rate McDonald up forward either but anything tall and athletic is a mobile option that's better than Fitzy at this point.

Good to see Fitz crash a pack. Watts should have smashed Scully. It's not basketball Jack don't post up.

He responded to the criticism of Watts by noting the entire team is down on efficiency and it's raining. Valid points.

Your 'criticism' was to have a go at his favourite player.

He wins.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
