Chip Frawley

Deemotivated

Recommended Posts

Can't be a coincidence that rival clubs are now of the opinion he'll stay at the Dees, unless they've been told as much by Chip's management. Probably means things are progressing well.

If that's just his management trying to enact a bidding war, there wouldn't be much point. The Dees likely have more money spare than any other Victorian club, and they would be giving him whatever he wants at this point.

If you were trying to start a bidding war you'd say the exact opposite.

Well the theory behind it is to say he's pretty happy at the Dees, which means other clubs might throw out some ridiculously high-ball options to lure him away. Similar to the way we got Clark to Melbourne despite him being happy to go to Perth.

Money talks.

I think the thing that's going to make him leave is the prospect of a flag, Hawks and even the tigers have that to offer, we have the money to match any other club, it's about if he is comfortable with our chances of winning a flag in his footy lifetime and most important if he is enjoying his time at the MFC

There's no reason that with smart recruitment and trading (I think the coaching team is pretty much as good as it gets now), we can't be pushing for finals next year and who knows where in 2016. Frawley still has at least 6 years left in him, the Dees will have an opportunity in that time to contest a flag.

Tigers will go backwards this year IMHO.

Gee Lamashtu there are some really big assumptions there.

However the biggest one is that Frawley has six years left.

In today's AFL there are going to be very few who make it past 30 years old.

The stress on there bodies is now immense.

He would be taking a bit punt to image he will still be going strong in six years time.

In my dark days last year of contemplating a switch to supporting Port Adelaide, I realised if they can achieve so much improvement in only an off season or two, there's zero reason the Dees can't do the same. Coaching, recruitment, and self belief are some of the most important qualities of a football club; we nearly have all three. A definitive victory Saturday night will get the momentum rolling.

No, Paddy is holding off to see if free agency is changed from 8 years to 7, which would result in him being an RFA when his next contract expires after the 2015 season.

If the changer isn't made, and many tip it will be, he'll likely do a two year deal with the Crows.

He wants success, cos he knows the money is going to be there regardless as he's a genuine star.

You will know he is off when he says " I want to be a demon for life" until then I cling to hope.

OD - you have the full and unqualified support of the board.

I have changed my mind and have decided that Chip should sign, especially after a number of high profile players put pen to paper recently, just bloody do it

Free agency and the way players are moving from club to club has made me completely change my thinking on players.

1/ love them passionately when they are at the club with the knowledge that they could walk or be axed tomorrow

2/ Any players that puts his contract talks on hold I considered gone and am pleasantly surprised if they stay

The clubs are ruthless and the players are equally so - that is the way of AFL and that has now moulded my thinking.

I'm not feeling that worried about this, I feel PJ will ask Roosy to sign up again, and then Frawley will sign up.

My only concern is how long he'll sign up for ;)

Watching Chip play the other night I noticed he's lost the "Animal" he used to have, or so it seems to me.

When he was playing in AA form he hated getting beaten in any contest and would visibly show it, but he just doesn't seem to have that outward aggro he used to. Perhaps that's what years of defeat can do to the spirit.

As I said on another thread he's nowhere near his best at the moment, but hopefully when Col Garland gets back he will start to fire up again.

So if Frawley is free agency can we just trade him away Does it mean we have no contractual obligation?

On Saturdays nights perfomance no great loss for mine He has lost me over the last few years

im more worried about Dunn who is clearly the better player of the 2 at the moment and heaps better value for $

Neither thought it would be a good idea to help Tommy Mcdonald out on Roo when he couldn't run lol

Good lord man, do you ever give up with your rubbish?! It's like Groundhog Day.

Look at the stats

Dunn 2013

Ave Disposals 16

Ave tacklers 3.3

Ave rebound 50s 3.9

Ave marks 3.7

Frawley 2013

Ave disposals 14.8

Ave tackles 2.4

Ave rebound 50s 3.4

Ave marks 5.7

Outside of marking Dunn wins across the board. So tell me why do you think Frawley is better value for money then Dunn?

Dunn also played much better then Frawley not he weekend just past.

If we lose Frawley we are also more likely to get a better compo pick then if we lose Dunn.

Signing Dunn should be higher priority in my opinion.

Gee I dunno, maybe because Frawley gets the best forward every week and Dunn gets the 4th or 5th...?

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
