Reckon Thymomodulin (nudge, nudge) might be more efficacious.

Love that word... very Victorian (the period, not the state)!

It's all very well to get uppity about these things but the proof of the pudding is in the eating and at the moment Clark and Dawes are not even training with the main group let alone looking like playing any time soon.

From the start of preseason we were told the objective was to get these guys ready for round 1. Dave Misson's reports have always said they are going "well" but the reality is they continue to be "no shows".

I'm starting to think these guys are very marginal conveyances. I hope I'm wrong but the fact is the club has given us great hope over injured players who just continue to be sidelined. Clark, Dawes, Jamar, Gawn, Garland and now perhaps Hogan.

You can't blame people for feeling let down and you can't blame them for questioning what is coming from the club. The reality is over preseason it feels like we've been fed bulldust.

Uppity?

lol

Dawes and Clark don't need a conspiracy to accompany their frustrating injury issues - it's footy.

Misson feeding us 'lies,' or whatever bull dust is, is footy.

Sometimes they are spot on. Sometimes there are setbacks - Clark being the king of the setback. Sometimes they don't know what is wrong - Steven Tingay had a piece of chipped bone in his buttock that ruined his career that went unknown for years.

wtf is a stress reaction?

i know what a stress fracture is but what is a stress reaction?

Stress reaction is not an actual fracture, but what is often referred to as a "hot spot."

When it can be determined that if stress continues to be applied a fracture will occur, due to a growing weakness.

Much better to catch it at this stage before a fracture occurs.

On a serious note, the sports science experts at cricket Australia, recently commented about the inability of young men to withstand the rigours of fast bowling until they were around 23, 24.

I know Jesse's a big lad but, FMD, what does it take to stand as a key forward with big bastards smashing in to your back?

At full strength our back and forward lines are top four in the league.

Our midfield is middle of the road with the potential of top 4 with future elite players i.e Viney, Tyson, Toumpas, Trengove, Jones, salem.

If we had all our players on the park then I would be confident that we could challenge for a place in the eight this year and a definite finals birth in 2015.

this is a level below a stress fracture

its not even close to being serious

Great news

See you in round 3 big fella

Melb fc state "stress reaction".

And it depends on his response to treatment.

Estimated 2-3 weeks

I think the Easter bunny comes soon.

Want to bet is 2 -3 weeks?

What if there's nothing to report?

Would you prefer they announce today that he is having scans and may have back stress fractures, only to say tomorrow that they jumped the gun and it is only bruising..?

(Besides the obvious result being different).

Some people just don't think.

Are you guys really saying you believe that drone Barrett before the club? really.....

Its disappointing that Hogan has injured him self, but i don't think he will make or break our season... Its only his first season... Probably a good idea to just ease him in the team slowly anyway....

Bailey has been flogged on here for debuting Watts early, yet people want to rush Hogan in the team for round 1? Hogan seems more ready then Watts was when he made his debut.... But to me it still seems too early to chuck him in the team, especially without the support of a Dawes or Clark.....the pressure that supporters are placing on Hogan is ridiculous, he is still young... Surely we know by now, that one player can't turn around a club or win a premiership...

Amazing how many of you turn so quickly from frothing at the mouth, dying to see Hogan play to 'oh, we weren't really going to see him much this year anyway'.

Seriously, just admit you're as [censored] off as the rest of us that he won't be running out in Round 1 and save us all this 'that's just footy' rubbish.

Yes, if symptoms settle and repeat scan shows all clear, he's good to go.

From memory you know what you're talking about on this issue (physio?) so I'll direct this to you - what are the chances of the injury recurring? i.e. It would appear there is something in his training/running style that may need to be altered (notwithstanding the collision in the Geelong game) to prevent the stress on this part of his back recurring.

I think most understand that. It is just frustration and disappointment, at another season starting with so many key players injured, including a much hyped kid, who we have waited patiently for over a year to see.

You get the prize Alotta. Biffen will send you a voucher for a night's stay at The Gat.

I got the Band and singer, do I get to share the room with Alotta?

What?!

How on earth did you interpret that from my post?

I suggest you go back and read through it again.

Barrett is a consummate moron, a gutter journo, and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
