They're not trained monkeys, they're humans. Staying motivated in that environment would have been a struggle for anyone. You can stamp your feet and sound as ruthless as you like, but your view seems completely detached from that fact.

So just to confirm, you offer no emotional attachment to the players, you just expect results, but Frawley is not entitled to the same right to make decisions without emotion?

Finals and success is what players want. He is one player. He can't produce finals footy on his own. If the team is incapable of that, he will have put in 7 good years trying to get them to that point, and would be well within his rights to go elsewhere where that is a reality.

I should emphasise that I'm very much hoping he stays and I don't underestimate his value. Fullbacks like Chip don't come along all the time. I do however think it will take significant improvement for him to stay, and I can understand why.

To be honest I cant see him going. I think he'll enjoy the revitalised club and play with renewed vigour.

But hes only one player. People get far too wrapped up in individual players for mine.

I have no issue with him holding off contracts talks. He would be stupid to re-sign with us. Why would you. The only thing that worries me is this whole coaching succession plan and if we can get someone next year. Chip has had what 7 coaches since his first season and he knows roos is going to go whenever he does. Also Chip has been in the backline where the ball practically lived in the past few season.

But FA will screw us over if we dont start winning and get some momentum around the team.

The only thing is if a hawthorn who are cashed up, geelong or collingwood come after him. Then we dont stand a chance.

Roos, while I am over the moon we got him, is a means to an end, not an end. Many thought the same thing about the number 1 draft picks of 2008/09. We need to judge the club on the results it produces, not the potential of the tools it has that may produce those results.

It's the same mindset however. We have gotten a commodity/staff member/business opportunity and now all will be right with the world. The same thing, unrealistically, was thought when Neeld got here. We need to stop thinking that all will be fixed based on one appointment whose results haven't come to fruition yet.

I believe that Roos will most likely be an improvement. However, I cannot say 100% that is the case and my final verdict on him will come after 2 years. I hate to say it WYL but you are setting yourself up for a ridiculously hard fall if this appointment bombs out. I hope it doesn't (in fact I don't think it will) but if it does, I can see you on here giving the 'Roos regime' a good scalding for it's 'blunders' all the while ignoring how you declared his appointment 'Mission Accomplished'.

It almost seems like you expect Chip to feel that way. If he sees that there is a cause there worth fighting for, I'm sure he is up for it. That's the whole point of what he is doing now.

The stuff with Roos and PJ you mention is dicing with exactly what I was talking about. Have you ever considered the possibility they just might fail? I'm sure that they, without dwelling on it and maintaining confidence in their own abilities, probably have considered that possibility.

Best Full Back in the AFL? Really. It's been a while since the 2010 season. Chip had a solid year back then...

His only 25 and still has the qualitys to be the best again.

It would be hard to give it your all week in week out when your playing for a bottom sides.
