Strauss and Blease at least have attributes that could be considered elite in kicking and pace respectively, which makes it worth persisting with them. Jetta has nothing.

Jetta has toughness and a desire to tackle - neither Blease and Stauss have those attributes from what I have seen.

Roos might have some pre-requisites to playing, and they are probably closer to Jetta's attributes than the other two.

I would agree with this. It's one of the reasons I was surprised to see Jetta delisted, and not at all surprised he has been retained.

The Swans style is frenetic, and Jetta is closer to that mould than the likes of Strauss and Blease.

rpfc, I don't have to put words into people's mouths, some wonderful stuff comes out of it's own accord

Unless you are stood next to me when I speak to players you have no idea what I am saying, so you can keep your advice to yourself

And who made you sheriff, don't remember voting for you

All through this, at lest Nev knew he had one supporter in his corner, and he thanked me for it

Jetta has the attitude that Roos loves, so he's being given time to see if his game will develop under skilful coaching. If not, he's gone. Strauss and Blease have a year to show that they're more than one-trick ponies. Much as I love seeing Nev tackle and Sam take the game on, I don't expect to see any of them in 2015.

You have told us that you relayed to Dawes what people 'think of him' on here. Why don't you also tell him that some on here think he should be captain?

And all the players have 'the supporters in their corner' - you wear that guernsey (even the white one) we will support you.

You can relay that to the players aswell if you want to...

The fact that Jetta was our last pick in the draft would indicate to me that the clue don't expect a lot from him. It would seem that he will have to show a lot to get a game, and a lot more to get another contract next year.

I like Nev, as do most on here, but this is a business and he hasn't shown enough in the time he's been on the list.

Stayathome, you've just confirmed for me that although you try to convince yourself you're doing some sort of public service and supporting the players, it's really all about trying to present yourself as being "one of their few true supporters" and that you want to feel special and get a pat on the back from them.

I'd be annoyed at your misrepresentations, if I at all thought the players took you seriously.

As it is, in just embarrassed for you.

FCS, support the club with all your gusto, but don't go peddling crap to the players about internet warriors sledging them.

Sorry Machsy do about nothing..............As I said to the other one or two comedians who have posted, unless you are stood next to me, you have no idea what I do or don't say to players, so I would ask you keep your instructions to yourself

I enjoy talking to the players, I don't represent myself as anything except a supporter, nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about

It is some posters on here who seem to have the problem with their self esteem

The players know how some supporters feel about them, without me telling them, I know because they've told me

And I will continue to do what I like, as you expect to, as I said if what I write annoys you, don't read it, I am about to add you to my list of skip overs

That's right.

I only have to go on what you yourself write on this forum.

You're the one supplying the bullets, mate.

What is Strauss's trick?

Has the ability to impersonate an AFL player without necessarily being one

He know's how to use an apostrophe following an s!

I can't fault it and I went to the same school as Robert Richter who has just pulled off a great travesty of justice for geoff shaw !

the travesty of justice is for the victorian people...not that particular feeble excuse of a politician

Jetta would almost be one of te first picked at the moment.

Agreed. Up there with Pederson and Dunn for "most improved player". Full credit to him, he's making the most of this opportunity.

I am eating humble pie. Absolutely amazing turn around for this bloke. Just shows his work and dedication is finally paying off.

Well done nev you are now officially in my best 22 and a very important member in our side. I thought today I was seeing Mathew Whelan out there again at times.. must get my eyes checked.

man, i loved that guy.

Jetta also possesses a good footy brain, strength, wins one on one and has the ability to size up an option quickly. Is miles ahead of the other 2 on these attributes.

He is more than just a "trier".

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
