I personally like the white clash jumpers, but understand they aren't for everyone. Is it just the actual colour white that bothers everyone? or the design?

If you simply go for a light grey, it'll look something like this:

hey rpfc, it's the off season and every off season those of us who hate the predominately white clash jumpers like to let off steam

you're views are are well known, that doesn't mean we all have to accept your reasons to justify the current clash jumper

it's pretty obvious a substantial number of demonlanders don't like the white clash jumper

if you want to get technical white was part of most heritage clubs' colours at some stage. so what

mfc also had all magenta (2 years) and royal blue (12 years) and long white pants too

you accept white as being ok on heritage grounds but reject royal blue. This is not consistent

at no stage were our colours red, white and blue

fucshias was our heritage nick for quite a long time, but that would be no good reason to bring it back

geelong had all blue jumpers for just 1 year (the first), all white jumpers for 4 years and all red jumpers for 12 years. Interestingly they even had all red jumpers with all blue long shorts for 7 years!

Mate, I didn't start the thread, I just put a different slant on proceedings ... I believe the thread was originally in reference to the collar and the stars (of which I have very little interest)

'beelzebub' has done an excellent job putting up all those different guernsey designs. The reverse of our jumper looked quite good IMO. Food for thought even if nothing changes.

At least we've had some different views from those who never got involved in previous debates ... it's a bit like new posters wanting to make comments about Bailey, Neeld, Scully etc etc. It's no big deal. Those who have been involved in those topics previously don't have to get involved again.

Anything along these lines would vastly increase the clash jumper sales, and would make things far more enjoyable to watch as the as majority of us were brain washed to follow "the red and blue".

That's what I am doing - discussing it. Many don't know about our white heritage and I think we should embrace it.

Dismissing the fact that it is because of cricket whites isn't good enough for me. Geelong didn't just use their whites, they wore a blue jumper.

This is a club born out of a cricket club. I happen to be an MCC member who is very proud of the role of both clubs in the foundation of the game. This heritage is also linked through the away shorts worn by all clubs - 'white'. Maybe the AFL is right to push white given the games foundations.

You don't have to be convinced, but dismissing my view as opportunistic and hollow is not fair in my opinion.

as for concentrating on winning games - we did that for the last 7 years for SFA results

i say we concentrate on getting rid of that goddam awful abortion of a clash jumper and then worry about winning some games

my dear t_u at the time a newspaper columnist called us the invincible white all effing clubs wore white (actually more cream) cricket clobber and only distinguished themselves from each other by wearing coloured caps. the term didn't even really catch on

and in rate it was all before the VFL times

if someone hadn't dug it out of a history book recently 99% of posters here would never have heard of it

the fucshias was far more of our history than invincible whites and i don't think anyone wants to wear the fucshia colour permanently like we did for the cancer match

anyway navy red and dark blue are our colours and no [censored] white - got it?

You are still dismissing me, not the argument.

'Everyone wearing white' is not only not convincing, it isn't true. Coloured jumpers were used early in the 1860s (Geelong did not wear a white jumper until 1862/63 and only for one year. They then moved to blue and white when we stole their colours - or the other way around - in 1872) when early clubs were formed. Caps were worn but the the jumpers were all distinct.

Love seeing these red designs, they'd all be great. With such a mass of supporters here on Demonland, we could easily get it across to the club via Facebook or Twitter. West Coast and Brisbane have had similar supporter rallies to amend their jumpers. Also, Richmond have announced their new clash jumper next year contains more yellow and less black, and NO WHITE. We should follow in suit to a club that also mentions their colours in their theme song and stay true to them, like the Tigers have. By the way, early last year their was a sale in the MFC shop, and only the white guernsey was discounted. They don't sell because our supporters can't relate to them well enough. It could help the club financially if we had a decent away strip that was red and blue
