Well done angrydee!!!!!!!!

Yes, indeed a great get for D'Land by angrydee. Well done.

Interesting to read ignitions subsequent post in reply to angrydees too. re: G.Lyon too.

Ignition has also since stated earlier this month about a possible exchange of picks for a gun mid and possibly using the exchange pick (9) on Bontempelli.

Could be a good call.

G'Day,

New member here first post, your thread topic sparked me to join :)

I heard on TrippleM last year just before the draft that Dom Tyson was actually coached by Garry Lyon at some point during his junior carreer. So it wouldn't suprize me if the old Lyon has been in his ear. Also as stated previously he is only a first year player, however GWS have been signing their players a year early to avoid the vulturing clubs circuling... interestingly if your source is correct I believe we would be seeing him come at the end of the 2013 season (unless if he and GWS agree to cancel contracts and sort a trade with the Dees). Would be nice if the cost was right!

Gary coached the Camberwell team, so that makes sense. Fascinating post, mate.

"Upon his return, Tyson was taken to the home of Melbourne's head of player development, Todd Viney, where he met the club's new coach Paul Roos, new assistant coach George Stone and football manager Josh Mahoney."

At the rate its going the Viney house hold will become heritage listed :)

anyone listening to trade radio?

Apparently Terry Wallace is absolutely giving it to Barrett for criticism the Tyson deal when hes never even seen Tyson play

Fantastic! Hope he tears him a new one!

And the irony in all this, Damien Barrett has most likely never even laced a boot.

So all in all, a bloke who has most likely never played football, is bagging out a kid who he has never even see play..

Yet this Barrett fool gets these media gigs, I think that just sums up the media landscape at the moment.

Just saw Tyson's press conference and I am mightily impressed. Well spoken, composed and would not surprise me if he becomes a leader at our club. Good bloody get!

Wallace is actually worth listerning to sometimes. Rates Tyson very very highly and he said a while ago Cross would be a massive gain for us.

I seriously reckon Wallace must quietly shake his head in disbelief with some of the rot that Barrett comes up with.

He wouldn't feel anything, he is as cold and numb about anything he says re: footy. He'd be trying to remain relevant and give the trade radio 'spak filla' by generating calls.

The only warmth he would show is when he exits someone's garbage bin after sifting through 'material' trying to generate something.

He's an ant on a sidewalk, a centrepeed in Mumbai.

Hahahahaaa I completely forgot about this post, when I first read your comment I thought you must have edited it. As suggested by beezlebub in the Bontempelli thread, I somehow must have Marty McFly's alamanic (MFC version) :)

Thanks mate.

what fascinated me was that George Stone was at the meeting with Dom.

was it because he is midfield coach? or a convincing personality? senior stability?

Wasn't that long after his own appointment. How much of a plan could he have for the midfield to present to Dom.

Enjoyed that. And my two teenaged daughters are well impressed for other reasons.aside from his footy skills

Damn missed it!

For anyone interested there is a trade radio podcast which is probably better because as well as avoiding the dropouts every 10 seconds, you can forward through all of Barret's [censored] and listen to the parts you actually want to listen to.

Barrett is an absolute [censored], he just hates MFC and makes absolutely no secret of that.

we effectively traded out picks 2, 20, sylvia 54 and 72 and got tyson, Cross, Michie, Vince, pick 9 and pick 53, exactly what the doctor ordered and a very good trade period,

Dom Tyson alone imo is a top 3 pick, super talented and this will be his first full pre season

Well and truly net gain for us, especially considering the talk about pick 2 being almost on par with pick 9 in terms of the talent available in the top 11.

I didn't really think that much of Aish or Kelly anyway, both pretty skinny and would take 2-3 years to really start to impact games, Tyson is ready to go and Crouch, Lennon, Kolo, Sheed, Freeman are all ready to go type players.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
