R.I.P. Demonology

Recommended Posts

I haven't posted on Demonology for 4 or 5 years and you still want to blame for your failings.

Interesting that; I didn't do the walk to the G this year because I took my wife and she didn't want to get her there too early. Not sure who you were talking too.

Not necessarily this year Robbie and I remember you getting into a blue over the early contract extension for Bailey(I didnt post on that at all and thought you were being unfairly attacked for a reasonable point of view...probably because of your General Board attitude)..you announced you were "off"and you never returned

You have been blaming me and HHNF ("the other one" ) ever since.

A bit sad really.

Not necessarily this year Robbie

Well I did the walk last year and the year before but apart from my family and GSmith and Tilly I didn't talk to anyone else I reckon you've got the wrong grey head. Mines white anyway.

Anyway, off you go and enjoy your life.

um...hannibal is not his actual identity either

What's with the smoke and mirrors stuff?!

I actually couldn't give a stuff who anyone is to be honest. In fact, I regret asking the innocent question in the first place.

This is the type of posting that turned me off Demonology in the first place. Ironic really.

Ben-Hur posted under Hannabal and Trav20 on here as well as a couple that I can't recall, Black Duck or something like that was one and there were a few others that have gone by the by.

I just had a look at Demonology and in particular one thread on the General Board that was just disgusting; no wonder they are censoring it, it should be closed down if that's the level that the debate has descended to.

Healthy debate is ok but some of the foul language used there is just inexcusable, the usual suspects, the ones banned from here.

Meh.

I found the 'Land via the 'Ology. The 'Ology seemed too exclusionary for me. A bunch of blokes who thought they were the font of all wisdom and if you didn't have a high post count, then your opinion was disregarded.

I have seen bits and pieces of Doctor Who's work when I have occasionally lurked the boards. The future looks grim.

He is.

Well, was, until a few hours ago before the site thief revoked my access. Don't worry about that though, there are other ways and means to skin this cat. It just has to wait until I get home.

now is the time to use those carefully placed back-doors eh nasher

A little while ago I was approached by a poster who wanted to be put into contact with Demonology's owner about the prospect of revitalising the site. I would be mortified if that person is now the owner and has put irresponsible people in charge of its administration and moderation. Looking at the site however, I've not seen evidence of this taking place although I do see that quite a few posters who have been banned on here find themselves new homes over there.

I hope the change of ownership proves not to be true. I like some of the robust discussion that goes on there from time to time.

That is exactly what has transpired Jack although Tim tells me that he was introduced to [censored] by George on the Outer. It appears that the [censored] Brothers have taken advantage of Tim's illness and coerced from him all the passwords necessary to control the site. No money has changed hands it was simply a case of Tim being unable to cope and succumbed to the pressure applied.

Incidentally whilst Tim remains most unwell at least his problem has now been diagnosed and he knows what he is up against.

The site may well continue under the control of these undesirables however many of the long term posters who have not already abandoned ship will now do so.

A sad ending to a relationship which many of us have been involved in for close to a decade.

Apologies to Demonlanders who have no interest however there are a number who have used both sites.

Can't log in over there now. Looks like you might need Who's sonic screwdriver to enter the site.

I am the same - looks like a login then nothing.

Have only been an occasional poster for the last couple of years on both sites but regularly kept an eye on 'ology. It would be a real pity if this can't be resolved.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
