Tynans done zilch in three years

Tom Couch would go down as the most pointless rookie pick in MFC history.

Jamie Cann, Trent Zomer, Jai Sheahan, Brendan Van Schaik, Adam Fisher, Kevin Devine and others say hi.

Paul Roos wants players who run hard back and forth all game. To think that Nicholson and Bail would be delisted is lunacy when you go through the list of pea-hearts who have yet to be kicked out.

Really? I thought the point was that along with Magner he'd make our VFL side competitive, giving the developing kids a winning atmosphere to develop in.

I never considered him a serious chance for AFL game time.

No mention of the development line coaches yet.

Greaves

Satterley

Nichol

These guys were hand picked by Neeld so I would imagine they'd also be on shaky ground.

Watched quite a few Casey games this year, unfortunately Tynan stopped developing, as somebody has already said, too many ordinary games from him,

One thing I notice is the amount of KPD depth we've discarded: Davis, Sellar and Gillies.

Not that they were worth keeping.

But I get the feeling (and at times during the season I wondered about this) that Roos sees us as having too tall a backline.

Not enough runners.

I think Dunn & Pedersen will be outside our 22 as depth, with Garland, Frawley and McDonald as our tall defenders.

We'll have more runners in defense, running the ball out and running forward to create options.

Dunn in particular is mobile, but doesn't often use his ability to run out of defensive 50.

(Not trying to turn this into a Dunn thread - it's just how I see it, as far as balance. Dunn is never going to misplace the other 3 tall defenders, and simply needs to create more run).

If you think about the running backmen at Sydney - Kennelly, Shaw, Mattner, Malceski... I think there were more.

Get this through your head, Roos and other coaches of a similar ilk such as Lyon love players who run and have discipline to do abasic job which fits into the structure.

One thing Nicho has is a tank which is to his advantage, players who can perform roles whilst getting occassional runs through the midfield as run with or just to give other mids a breather are a strong chance to at least be looked at or held over until after the trade period.

Can't hit the side of a barn though......

5 players...2 coaches

folks we've only just begun.....

wait.... I feel a song coming on..

Tynans done zilch in three years

He's been with us for 2 years, but I'm pretty sure he played some good footy the other year in the 18's.

He is a real goer but lacks in skills, we can't afford to carry too many of these type of players and as 'Sat' says he hasn't come on this year. If Taggert stays on it will be because he has the skill and size to make it, he will have to get the belief to go with it.

Can't hit the side of a barn though......

OH NO! FLASHBACKS HAVE BEGUN!

Nicho runs down the wing, takes a bounce, takes two, UNLOOOOOOAAAAAAADS from 40m out

and hits the post.

or just plain misses.

No date for flashback necessary, happened just about every week.

All the best to them all, but I'd be lying if I said I was sad to see any of them go.

I'm certainly excited for the prospect of a new midfield coach!

Can't hit the side of a barn though......

Neither can/could Zac Dawson, Matt De Boer, Clint Jones, Rohan Jones or Steven Baker but they all give 100% and perform their role. Chris Mayne and Clancee Pearce had shocking disposal a couple of years ago which has improved with confidence but they have a high work ethic and solid attitude. Can't say I have witnessed it from afar but the same has also been said of Keiran Jack when he was first on the scene at the Swans his kicking was shocking.

Bail & Nicho's work ethic is to their advantage

Sellar, Davis, Couch, Tynan and Gillies with the three retirees makes for eight changes and little hurt so far.

Davis I had hopes for at one stage but really did not progress. Sellar, for all the sledges he copped here was servicable at times but Couch and Gillies sadly did not cut it and Tynan at pick 52 could have been inspired, but wasn't.

Three who could count themselves lucky (at least so far) are Strauss, Nicholson and Bail.

Thanks to all however, for their efforts. They got a lot closer than I ever did.

Cannot believe Bail and Nicholson are still there Bail is contracted must be traded

Sellar turned up to work today with a black eye. I wanna know that story.

a dwarf fell off a cieling fan and richoted off jw hair and hit sellar in the eye

so whats the problem AF

Not sure lunacy applies here Chook.

Neither of them can hit the side of a barn from 20 metres.

They are both turnover experts.

Bail is contracted and he may stay.

Nicholson is on very shaky ground IMO.

Turnovers kill a side.

I will be very surprised if both are around in 2015

Well there is certainly some logic in keeping youngish (even Sellar is only 24) players as depth in the hope they develop and also that they make improvement. You can't just have a best 22 and kids, that wont work. But Sellar was brought across and in 2 years he hasn't and Davis didn't look up to it. Of course than main reason we didn't need to keep them for depth is that behind Frawley, Garland and McDonald as starting tall defenders we have the wonderful if undersized Dunn as well as good old Pedersen. Plenty of depth for mine.

I think you'd need more than hope to keep Sellar. Not up to AFL and I have seen enough to suggest that he won't go further. At contract expiry I would turf Dunn and Pedersen as well. I don't see Pedersen pressing for an AFL spot. And if we are going to be serious competitive side I don't think Dunn is good enough.

Where a player is not best 22 I would him either to be able compete at AFL or have the potential to do so. I think you are of the same mind in that you don't re contract purely for depth.

He might have a tank, but has poor disposal, doesn't compete enough, not a good decision maker and is prone to hearing footsteps. Not a fan.

Agree. Bravery and ferocity for a contest will never overcome a weakness to butcher the ball and turn it over.

Bail has next year to make an impact. Nicho might be lucky.

Disappointed that Sellar has gone, I can understand why, but disappointed just the same. He seemed to be going alright for a while but just never came on as I hoped he would.
