Jack Trengove - sprint coach

One of the commentators (cant remember which one) made the point during the season that Jack Trengove needs a sprint coach over the summer as he has lost all his explosiveness and acceleration.

I think its something that has to be done, Trengove has the chance to become the star he is supposed to now Roos is in charge, and if he can get back that yard or two of pace he lost the last 2 years he will become one hell of a player.

I find it impossible to believe that Trengove doesn't have groin issues. Problems with the groin greatly effect your power off the mark and the young Trengove I saw didn't run like he had concrete in his boots.

Paul Roos certainly needs to identify what the issues are there, if he can't gain all of the speed back he needs to look at Ryan Okeefe and become the hardest running player at the club, he has class and skill and all that, i think alot of our players just need to be given a role and something to work towards!

Sprint coach would certainly not hurt a few of our boys.

A sprint coach will not help him regain pace or explosiveness, getting to the bottom of why he has lost it and fixing it might.

Remember Rioli getting trained to change his running style, nothing happened. He is still doing hammy's.

remember aaron davey a number of years ago, when they tried to put weight on his frame, he lost his speed & acceleration

I'd be interested to hear if Jack trained with his sister growing up and before he got drafted.

Train slow, run slow and perhaps we have to work harder with Jack than others.

Trengove looks exactly like Luke Ball prior to moving to Collingwood.

They gave him a full time personal physio from memory, and it'd be worth us outlaying the cost of that for Trengove IMHO.

Already have, lowered them ages ago. A shame. He has all the right stuff but for his speed and power these days. He's been crueled, we've been effectively dudded.

Agreed

The stress fracture at the start of the year may still be effecting him but otherwise I think people are looking for an excuse.

I hope he does have some kind of fixable injury but if he did wouldn't we have heard about it through one of demonlands many sources.

Garry Lyon told the public about Frawley carrying an injury - I think if there was something wrong making it public it would ease the pressure on Jack.

It was Matthew Lloyd on 3AW. (He also said during the same game that Jack Watts needed an "intensity coach")

Most likely a combination of things, stress fracture, existing injuries ( OP ) pressure of being captain, pressure of supplements scandal, lack of confidence, worrying too much about other players,

i thought his performance become quite consistent towards the end of the year, and in the very last game he showed a little bit more zip

i'm sure Roos will have a plan for how to sort that out, i feel his zip back would make him a much better player, pace and confidence

This guy was capable of having a match-winning influence.
